Gary_Yngve Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Galliano? Pernod? I have a bottle of Ricard Pastis at home. It's outstanding as a mellow aperitif diluted 4:1 with water or club soda. Also nifty for flambeeing, enhancing the flavor of fennel, great for a provencal preparation of seabass... Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I could've used that in my mussel dish from last week which included saffron and fennel seeds (crushed) Quote

Still happy about it. Quote

sirwoofalot Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I had a flash yesterday, and wonder why I never thought about this before. I realized I do NOT have to point out others sins to them. I need to read the Bible and know what God saying to me and me alone. About how I need to change, how I need to correct my life. I have never walked in someone else shoe, and can not. It is a spiritual impossibility for me, and I should not try to. If God speaks to me through his word, that is to me. Before you rip Christianity perhaps you should check what God has to say about it; give up your preconceived notions based on other people’s mistakes and start by reading the Bible. Might I suggest starting in the New Testament with the book of John? Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Eight years Catholic school. Been there, done that, got the T shirt. Quote

Might I suggest starting in the New Testament with the book of John? What GOD has to say about it? The bible was written by men, claiming that God told them what to write or otherwise 'moved their hand'. Now why does this 'fact' always get a free pass? Why is this taken as a given? If anyone today writes something down and claims that God spoke through them, they are immediately vilified and ridiculed...or worse...as lunatics, blasphemers, frauds. What was so different about John and others 1500-2000 years ago that what they wrote down is to be believed without question? Quote

RuMR Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 this is a flash thought i had this morning (i'm slow). it's so obvious i'm sure someone else has said it before but i thought i should post it here so we can have our own flame war if necessary. to the christians: you know how you think it's crazy muslims deny women rights by making them wear veils, not letting them drive, and in general treating them like second class citizens? that's how i feel about your attempts to make abortion illegal. First, most Christians do not like my stand but most Jews did not like Jesus so take it all with a grain of salt. Abortion should be addressed through education and support of birth control. This would have to be coupled with reforms in Public health care and welfare. Huge issue. Not simplistic. Do I think abortions are OK? No. Do I think they should be illegal? Some of them. From here it gets really sticky but I have a really freaking HUGE issue with people who use it repeatedly as birth control just like I have a really freaking HUGE issue with people who think they can tell a raped woman she has to carry to term. you know how you think it's crazy muslims punish the victims of rape or punish women who sit in the company of men they are not related to? that's how i feel about your opposition to gay marriage. Gays are mostly that way due to genetics. The church is behind the times scientifically but they will adapt. Anything that changes rapidly, cannot withstand the erosion of time. We are in a particularly fast changing period and the old ways seem too slow to change. They will. you know how you think it's crazy muslims wage a holy war against all infidels and think isreal should be wiped off the map? that's how i feel about your attempts to teach intelligent design or creationism in schools. The church is behind the times scientifically but they will adapt. Anything that changes rapidly, cannot withstand the erosion of time. We are in a particularly fast changing period and the old ways seem too slow to change. They will. you know how you think there are probably a lot of muslims who just see islam as a source of personal inspiration and don't advocate violence or terrorism? that's how i feel about christians who don't feel the need to impose their beliefs on others. thanks and have a great day. Cheers. I like your post. hey bug/ant/whatever... no one really has multiple abortions...using it repeatedly as birth control...are you fucking high?? Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 [ no one really has multiple abortions...using it repeatedly as birth control...are you fucking high?? it's common in other parts of the world, but, yeah, in the US, you are right. Quote
