Raindawg Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I'm in London and I'm drunk! Had some Treakston's 'Old Peculiar' plus several pints of some other nonsense I can't recall. Just had a chat with a local wino who shared the following: - he loves the Beach Boys, - he finds the music of Elvis pleasant but not particularly inspiring, - Ringo Starr was the musical free-loader of the Beatles, and - he wonders why so many talented people have died young (e.g. Jim Morrison) yet Keith Richards survives into his sixties, even after recently falling out of a coconut tree! I must agree on all counts. carry on, - Dwayner......uh.uh..uh...'Raindawg'! Quote
rob Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 - Ringo Starr was the musical free-loader of the Beatles whatever. As a drummer myself, I still appreciate the uniqueness of his drum parts. Listen to "a day in the life" sometime. Ringo is da man. He was also ahead of his time in a lot of things, such as using a matched grip, using muffling devices, etc. John Lennon once said that Ringo was the heart of the beatles. Many drummers (including myself) consider him a great influence. your friend in London is a dipshit. Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Pshaw. Bonham rulez everyone for all ages and Portnoy is the best alive these days. Except maybe for Carey from Tool. Quote

You know how much rottweilers love it when you throw them a Bone. My buddy Max goes for the balls usually. And yes I realize I tossed a bone, sorry but I felt "in" the moment. BTW Raindawg! Good to see your alive and kicking! Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 That means that a maximum of only two rottweilers get the choice pieces. The rest are gonna be piiiiiiisssssed. Quote
G-spotter Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Yet another reason for k-bone to grow some balls Quote
Off_White Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I'm in London and I'm drunk! No, you're not drunk. Age and experience build tolerance. Six shots of scotch for breakfast and you're drunk, but a few drams of Old Peculiar in the evening and you're just warming up. btw: I love that Theakstons stuff, I'd love to find it on tap. Quote

Dechristo Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 He was... ahead of his time in a lot of things, such as using a matched grip, using muffling devices, etc. Most rock drummers since then have taken to the match grip. It's complementary to the heavy hitting. Jazz drummers, for the most part, remain using the classic grip due to the requirements of complexity and finesse. John Lennon once said that Ringo was the heart of the beatles. Of course, Lennon was known for his sense of humor. Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, Peter Erskine. Quote
kevbone Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 If you guys are talking drumming.......Rodney Holmes! Quote
artschool Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 My dad keeps yammering on about some guy named Gene Krupa. Maybe its time to put him in a home. Quote
