Nice try, punk. He was talking to a group of kids about the value of education. And he was talking contemptuously about American soldiers - just like you do. moon.gif

Meanwhile, in real news:

A bloody month for US troops

103 die in Oct.; Baghdad bomb stokes anger

By Jay Price, Mcclatchy Newspapers | October 31, 2006

BAGHDAD -- The American death toll for October climbed past 100, a grim milestone as a White House envoy turned up unexpectedly in Baghdad yesterday following a rough patch in US-Iraqi ties. At least 81 people were killed yesterday across Iraq, including 33 in a bombing targeting workers.

Three soldiers were killed in or near Baghdad yesterday: a member of the 89th Military Police Brigade in east Baghdad, a soldier hit by small arms fire during combat in a western district, and a soldier whose vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb just south of the city. Those deaths raised to 103 the number of US service members killed in a bloody October, the deadliest month for Americans in nearly two years. At least 2,816 American forces have died since the war began in March 2003.

According to an Associated Press count, October has also recorded more Iraqi civilian deaths -- 1,170 as of yesterday-- than any other month since the AP began keeping track in May 2005.

Misplaced your righteous condemnation again FW? I'm sure if you look hard enough you'll find it.

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

Arrogance of the left on display - again.

Excellent!! You're more pedictable than gravity!! Fine excecution of the Republican playbook, chaper 1, 2, 3, etc. When you have to run away from all the issues, and when in doubt, smear.

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get us stuck in Iraq."...like president Bush.

Kerry claims he flubbed a potshot at Bush by omitting the key words above. A screw up for sure, but hardly a significant driver in this election. It did speak to the larger divide between the 'arrogant' and the 'ignorant', the simpleton's lens through which the far left and far right view each other. As for the big deal the GOP is making of it, that's to be expected from a party that's pissing it's pants searching for something, anything to sell to the electorate. When in doubt, reach for that econo-sized bottle of anti-liberal sentiment.

At least the GOP is defending marriage (in rhetorical terms, at least), even if they can't defend the country.

Kerry was the nominee for the Democratic party 2 short years ago. His comments are perfect fodder for the election less than a week away. It reminds people exactly what the democrats stand for - you know, what they actually think once you lift the thin veneer of pretending to support the military and be patriotic. wave.gif

Whatever the Democratic party stands for, it seems that a majority of voters agree with it these days. I seriously doubt that anyone would change their vote because of Kerry's 'reminder' of liberal arrogance, a schtick that's bought only by those who'd never vote Democrat under any circumstances anyway.

I seriously doubt this Kerry gaffe is going to hurt any democratic candidates (besides Kerry).

No dem-leaning person is going to hold dumbshit Kerry's remarks against their local candidate.

On the plus side, democratic candidates in tough races like Harold Ford in Tennessee can disparage Kerry in order to woo the independents and Republicans on the fence. Sort of like McGavick calling for Rumsfeld's resignation. It's a total no-lose situation, noone is going to hold it against Ford for criticizing Kerry.

National elections are not won by convincing the "true believers" to change their mind. They are won by changing the minds of 2-3% of the voters. Ditto for tight, local races.
