jmace Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 I don't know about the other gals, but i always make sure i wear my cutest outfit and put on all my make up before i climb on... the rock that is. Honestly didnt think you existed...may have to re-think my no climbing girl-girlfriend thing...good work Quote
bluebadger Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 I can understand your confusion. Let me see if I can explain this to you: The body is 98% water. Water, at 37C (human body temp)is a liquid. Liquids flow to match the shape of their containers. Out here in the Southeast, the weather is temperate and so women can wear shorts, tanktops/T-shirts almost year around. Therefore, they flow to fit the shape of shorts and T-shirts. Out there in the PNW, women wear raincoats for a large part of the year. So they flow to fit the shape of raincoats. It pretty much standard science. Quote
layton Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 hey blueballer, we're not making fun of a person, we don't even know her. We're making fun of the stupid pictures that are clearly geared towards ditzy girlz who like to climb so they can dress up in yoga pants and stretch in the parking lot at the badlands after a rousing chai tea, maybe do three topropes, and complain the rest of the day. Dechristo Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 ML, you'd better become a hydrapractor... The body is 98% water. Quote

Point is, I do know her. Khadejha asked her to be a model because she looks like a model, but also climbs at a high level. The folks out on the left coast may not know her, but she is fairly well known in the east (esp among younger climbers). While I'm sorry if most of the women who climb out west have OBD, but Tori is not atypical for the body build of women/girls from age 16-25 in the east who climb. Quote
jmace Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 are you hnestly trying to say those pictures on the first page are not THE most cheesiest thing you have ever seen..? Quote
bluebadger Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 really? Guess that's how you've gotten 4000+ more posts in about the same amount of time as me, huh? Quote
bluebadger Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 are you hnestly trying to say those pictures on the first page are not THE most cheesiest thing you have ever seen..? You have a point... But they are marketing to a slightly different crowd. Go to a youth comp and see how many Khadejha shirts you see. Kinda scary when you're no longer the target audience. Quote
Dru Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Go to a youth comp and see how many Khadejha shirts you see. You wouldn't see many youths out here dressing up East Coast Poser... that stuff stops in the midWest. Quote

Yea, last year in Boulder (youth nationals), I saw all the posers with their badazz gangsta wear. The east coast kids stopped dressing like that in, oh, 2000-2001. Wait a couple years. It'll make it's way out there too. Quote
dmuja Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 stretch in the parking lot at the badlands after a rousing chai tea, Ummm...I like chai tea... nnnnn.. stretchy pants Im a man though I tell you , a real MAN! Quote

StevenSeagal Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Khadejha asked her to be a model because she looks like a model, but also climbs at a high level. The media's dream! Climbs hard and looks great! After all that's what most fuckin' important, right? That's the roots of the sport...looking sexy while climbing SO FUCKING HARD! ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ....hold on a sec.... StevenSeagal Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 last year in Boulder (youth nationals), I saw all the posers with their badazz gangsta wear. Wow. Boulder. You have been AROUND, man. I mean, Boulder is, like, the CENTER of the FUCKIN' UNIVERSE, for climbing, man. If it happens there, it's happening to ALL of us....brah. Quote
RuMR Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 you guys are frickin' wanks... i prefer that on the chica's to carhartts.... now carry on... Quote

bluebadger Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Khadejha asked her to be a model because she looks like a model, but also climbs at a high level. The media's dream! Climbs hard and looks great! After all that's what most fuckin' important, right? That's the roots of the sport...looking sexy while climbing SO FUCKING HARD! So as a recap, The thread starts out busting on Khadejha because of the models they used and the poses they used. Then, y'all went testosterone (even the lesbian climbers) because the girls look too much like models to possibly be able to climb. Then when it was pointed out that at least one of them, in fact, is a very capable climber, the argument shifted to "yea, but she's not top 3" Then someone who has a username of a barely B-rate movie actor gets all Socialist about it and decries the capitalist Khadejda for besmurching the pristine rep of climbing by selling clothes that *gasp* are too fashionable. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!! If you want to climb in baggie jeans and a white T shirt, climb on! In fact, I think I may have found a pic of you out climbing: So, what's your next argument morph? Quote
ClimbingPanther Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Kinda scary when you're no longer the target audience. Maybe for you. Actually, I find it refreshing that I am no longer considered stupid enough to spend too much money for a shirt with some letters on it. Nobody cares what you look like except you. And maybe Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 I just flipped through a copy of Lynn Hill's book. Sure enough in the pictures from the late '70s and early 80s, she looks strong. Here, the perception of the women as presented by the photographer/editor is that the women are anorexic and not muscular. They clearly could have chosen other poses or cut down on the airbrushing, but they didn't (note that they are showing off one of the guy's biceps). Other notes: what's with one of the guy's facial expressions? sort of a crooked grimace. what's with those dorky-looking large sunglasses that look more like ski goggles? Quote
G-spotter Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 what's with one of the guy's facial expressions? sort of a crooked grimace. That's cause the turtle just poked its head out of the shell. Quote

Don't head back to real content relating to objectification and commodification Gary! BillA Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Since when did bouldering become climbing? And name dropping "models" for a shitty clothing company is about as lame as it gets. Quote

Since when did the PNW spawn this exquisite crop of Aholes? Musta followed shortly after Microsoft pwn3d Seattle. Quote
