olyclimber
On this day in 1954, first ascent of K2 by Lacedelli and Compagnoni.
Weekend_Climberz
I think Bonatti should be recognized (though he didn't summit) if just only for the reasons that he was shunned from European climbing for so long due to the lies surrounding the first ascent. Yeah K2! Yeah Walter Bonatti!

Jens
I think Bonatti should be recognized (though he didn't summit) if just only for the reasons that he was shunned from European climbing for so long due to the lies surrounding the first ascent. Yeah K2! Yeah Walter Bonatti! Walter Bonatti gets my vote for the greatest climber of all time.

Punter
K1 = Masherbrum K3 = Gasherbrum IV which is arguable Bonatti's greatest FA.
Thinker
Lino Lacedelli's book is now available in English. It hasn't been officially released yet in the US, but chesslerbooks.com has some UK copies in stock. Looks like Mountaineers Books is the publisher...maybe someone there could pinch a couple of copies...who has an inside person there?
