Highlander Posted November 7, 2002 Posted November 7, 2002 I will be packing the light saber this weekend. Tauntauns make great bivy sacks, too bad you can only use them once. Quote
COL._Von_Spanker Posted November 7, 2002 Posted November 7, 2002 Heres the real photo from that day Quote
layton Posted November 8, 2002 Author Posted November 8, 2002 Haven't spent much time there in crappy weather like we are having in bellingham right now. IF the forecast says rain in Leavenworth, would that probably mean rain around Prusik?> I know that sounds like a stupid question, but I've heard that it's location can make for good(at least better) weather than other places when it's crappy out. Quote
Lambone Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 If it's raining in leavenworth it will definately be raining/snowing on Prussik. Could be pretty cold, wet, and misserable...if that's what you're into. Quote
Highlander Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 If its raining in L'town chances are its raining in the Enchantments or snowing at the higher elevation. Stay away thats were I will be this weekend. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 If the storms dont have a lot of punch then it could be a good gamble. Also it depends on what you are willing to put up with.... Â Rain in Lworth is likely rain on the hike in and snow on Prusik.. Agree with guys above. But I have had luck fall on the other side of the coin before. Â Here's a photo Highlander took of us checking out weather up in the Stuart Range 2 weeks ago. Fluffy white things falling from all directions. Cpt.Caveman Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 Highlander happy after sleeping in a Tauntaun - ala light saber opening. Â Quote
layton Posted November 12, 2002 Author Posted November 12, 2002 There's about 4-6 inches of snow (depending on where you step) going up to prussik. Quote
layton Posted November 13, 2002 Author Posted November 13, 2002 Lets just say it was a very nice "backpacking" trip. Need to leave the car a wee bit earlier next time. Quote

My legs are a bit tweaked still, free thermarest on the trail for ya', your welcome, but I'd love to have it back. Not a hint of Stench Oxen, though, it's winter up there. Â Snow Creek Wall was in great shape for all you newbie climbers looking for a first date experience to remember. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 I'd like to ski into Prusik over the Xmas vacation and climb the West Ridge. IF the weather is tolerable by me. I'd go in either way.... Any takers just send me a message. Quote

Cpt.Caveman Posted November 14, 2002 Posted November 14, 2002 I'll dare to be the weatherman until saturday there in the Enchantments- Â Cloudy skies. 80-90% chance of precipitation every day. Snow level 4000 feet el. Windy at times. Some wind gusts reaching 30 miles an hour on ridge crests. Temps ranging from low tenties at night to high 30s mid day (even lower at upper elevations). Â 70% chance of seeing a snaffle near the south face of prusik and around Nada Lake. 75% Chance of mountain goats on or around Snow Creek Wall. 5% chance of seeing a bear. Quote

texplorer Posted November 15, 2002 Posted November 15, 2002 Highlander and Caveman putting their overgrown snaffle to good use. This rare breed of snaffle was once common in the pacific NW but is very rare now. Many scientists speculate that their numbers are decreasing due to the reliance of climbers on the beasts as an emergency bivy sack when stranded in cold condtions. Quote
Greg_W Posted November 15, 2002 Posted November 15, 2002 Nice action suits, boys. Reminds me of that picture of Messner and Habeler after they summitted Everest in '78(?) without O's. Â [ 11-15-2002, 08:32 AM: Message edited by: Greg W ] Quote
