G-spotter
http://climbing.com/news/hotflashes/houseinjured/ I expect Johnny Tuff, DFA, pope, dwayner oops i mean raindawg, and RuMR will all weigh in on this one!
Johnny_Tuff
Oh, God, I was afraid it was a Gym Jones tire-dragging accident brought on by the fanatical, overzealous proddings of Mark Twight. Sounded like an April Fool's story to me, despite the date being a little late. Smith's "notoriously drilled" sport route...inconceivable! Those are gas pockets! Johnny_Tuff
You alpinists are all so cynical.
Weekend_Climberz
So, another Tommy Caldwell injury it sounds like. At least he was climbing and not remodeling his house. Get well Steve!!

underworld
a hurt index finger is a serious injury?? i hope they don't pull the plug.
G-spotter
Lately, these hotshot uberalpinists have been getting injuries at the start of the season that are just serious enough to let them off the hook. Witness how Tommy went cragging in Lofoten last summer after winning a grant to try to free the West Face of Thor. I think there was some tendinitis or broken foot story there. chucK
It seems like an obvious joke story. Besides the obvious comic sendup material of super fast and light toughguy alpinist secretly seiging a sportclimb for 7 months and getting "seriously injured" because he didn't have any sportos around to tell him how to warm up... Does Steve House live in Bend? The bar at Santa Barbara airport? "less recognized Piolet d'Orr?" Can crimp but can't open-hand?

olyclimber
I'm personal friends with Steve House (he is sponsoring me to get off the porch and into Gym Jones). He really does live in Bend, by the way.
Squid
I'm very close friends with Stevie-H (we call him Stevie Ache, now), and his finger is definitely injured. His backrubs don't have the warmth or intensity they used to. Sometimes I wonder where the magic has gone.
G-spotter
SEE, that's what climbing chipped routes does. It makes you move to Bend and steals the magic from backrubs.

Figger_Eight
Some buds and I were at Smith a couple of weeks ago climbing nearby. We watched him for a bit working the route, saw him miss a clip and take a huge 40 foot lob, jacking his belayer a few feet off the ground. It was neato. tyree
He does.
Johnny_Tuff
Has he ever been on Churning? Sweet rig. If anyone sees him in Bend, they should tell him to check it out. F'real.
111
hell, shouldn't House be on CC if he lives in Bend? Those of you who claim to know him, get him wasting time on here too. Surely his slideshows can upstage Layton's! ...Burn!
Weekend_Climberz
WTF? I'm assuming this is some sort of Timmy O'Neil type humor Rupal face 5.10b-ish
Alpinfox
OMG! BTW, I recently received a package from my best Bud "Steve-O", and the return address was BEND, OR!?!?! The address was somewhat hard to read which I attribute to that blown finger tendon... OMG! Can you believe it!?!? p.s. Steve-O told me that the Rupal was more like 10c and he's just tryin' to sandbag Tomaz Humar into givin' it a go. "Just wait 'til that whiney bitch hits the crux! MUHAHAHA!!! He'll be callin' in another heli-rescue!" he said. I swear tuh GAWD he did.
