olyclimber
Cool pictures of Beckey on Mt. Hunter. And I see a cc.comer (Don Serl) has a letter to the editors. Don, they got you there .
Dru
I haven't read the letters yet but let me guess, is he quibbling over the length or steepness of a reported route (eg "This route, reported as 2,000m high, is actually only 1,760m by the map")
olyclimber
No, in the Titan profile article the writer said that John Glenn did the first piloted orbital mission. Don called him on it, as it was the Russians, not the Americans that put the first man into space. Then he goes off on Americans stricken with "patriotic myopia"....but the editors point out that the author (Barlett) is actually British. Marko
More importantly, they've finally gotten around to highlighting the mighty Begguya.
JayB
I think Dru wrote the letter and put Don's name on it so that it would get published....
specialed
More importantly, they've finally gotten around to highlighting the mighty Begguya. Â Definitly a worthy subject. The article will be a great resource for future attempts at the north Butt of the mighty Begguya.

olyclimber
To include the following:  -Mountain Profile: Ama Dablam The Matterhorn of the Himalaya has been serenading climbers ever since they’ve been walking past it en route for Everest. Michael Kennedy provides the overview, while Dr. Michael Ward, Jeff Lowe, Yvan Estienne, Sergey Bogomolov and Rich Cross give first-hand accounts of climbing on the most beautiful mountain in the world.  -Puff the Magic Climber: Loda Bohl America smokes dope. Climbers smoke dope. But how do they perform when stoned? Join us in our errant quest for knowledge on this most hazy of subjects.  -The Way: Steve House When America’s finest alpinist went searching for balance, he had no idea the journey would consume him. It could only end when he came out the other side.  -Love Stinks: Alison Cerney Climbers smell. Sometimes that’s a good thing.  -The Totem Pole: Eric Bjornstad Climbers mark their passage on desert towers by inscribing the summit registers. A celebration of a vertical art form.  -Squamish: Peter Croft Squamish lies at the epicenter of Canadian rock climbing, and no Canadian has been shaped by it like Peter Croft. One of the era’s great forces reflects on his formative years on Canadian granite.
