DPS Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 My mother is a librarian and she gave me a video tape that the library was getting rid of. It was filmed by Steve Marts and featured a pair of young Skoog brothers doing a first ascent on Golden Horn. Kinda neat. Quote
bobinc Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 Steve and his cousin, Boyd, were inspired by the early 70s film "Solo" to do a number of climbing short films; I think they also did one that included footage on Baker. Quote

I remember the pocket glaciers being bigger and the slabs larger as well. I think I was looking at something else? Maybe to the left? or something else completely. I've been a ways up the SC trail and I've seen a lot of granite up in there to the south and east of Three Fingers. You can see it from the Summit of the latter also. Â Kind of up and left as you are going in... This picture makes me think that the headwaters of Squire Creek is just one big granite bowl. Â [ 09-16-2002, 07:27 PM: Message edited by: ScottP ] Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 Scott you are right and I have seen anchors on some of them rocks. They look good. Maybe the aliens are putting routes in there and not telling anyone Nice photo. Quote

Dru Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 There are huge walls on the east side of Spickard and Twin Spires/Mox Peaks has a giant east buttress. Good luck on the approach. You can see the walls in the Austin Post airphoto of Silver Lake in Red Beckey. Quote
jordop Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 And then there's Hozomeen. N Peak S and W faces, S Peak N and E faces. Solid rock, just don't expect any pro Quote

layton Posted September 17, 2002 Author Posted September 17, 2002 The NE face of Tower has been climbed, although I dunno where the route goes (Red Beckey guide). Quote
Dru Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 yeah, but only one route on that whole face... it sounds like it goes up the vague buttress on the right side of the face. Quote

I climbed the S face / E ridge about a month ago, and there wasn't any real E face, just an E ridge. However, it does look like there is a large section of face (NE facing) just to climber's left of the N buttress. Â However, I wouldn't be suprised if the N buttress has never seen a second ascent, so it'd probably be just as much of an adventure. Quote

Exceptions are unnamed peaks north of Bella Coola, the Omineca Mts., USA SW mtns like the Organ Pipes, and the Northern Selkirks. At least I have 1 marketable skill Quote
