Dru Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 Not quite fall but... You get Cold nights Warm days Pretty colours Sticky rubber Dead bugs No sunburns Hibernating snafflehounds Downsides are shorter days and you might meet hunters and get shot. But its still good time of year. good for cragging, alpine, alpine ice; everything except north facing alpine rock, snow sports and power tanning. Quote
Doug Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 Not counting autosigs, anyone want to venture a guess at ho long it will be before someone starts at thread on when the first FRESHIES will fall? Quote

jordop Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 Dontcha mean cuddling with some stout? Cos there's nothing that says fall like falling leaves in Squamish and a pint o Porter at the pub Quote

fern Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 take cat with you. I saw someone at Smith with a cat on a leash once Quote
wrench Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 Anyone see that climbing dog on TV the other day? Pulled off some sweet paw jambs and hind leg stems on a 5.6-ish looking crack! Unbelievable. Quote

And if you had a pet cougar you would be able to climb up Rainier or Si without getting stuck behind Scotteryx party Quote

AA Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 while in Banff last winter a woman brought her cat ice climbing- wrapped around her neck on the hike in and cuddled up in a nice down jacket while she climbed! Quote

sk Posted September 5, 2002 Posted September 5, 2002 I have found that my cats don't give a rats ass how long we are gone for as long as someone shows up from time to time to feed them food. Leashed trained cats can be fun, except mine equate the leash with the vet bad training on my part I am sure Quote
imorris Posted September 5, 2002 Posted September 5, 2002 from personal experience growing up with cats, they don't understand the concept of a leash. Better to get one on those cat straightjackets the vets have to give shots. Just a tube with a bawling cat head sticking out the top! pretty funny. Maybe w/ a biner on the back you could clip it to your gear loops during day and let it out at bivies for snaffle protection? Quote

terrible_ted Posted September 5, 2002 Posted September 5, 2002 Our cat associates the leash with getting to go outside. I wouldn't say he loves it - he just never learned otherwise. Walking a cat, however, does take a bit of patience. And don't let anyone tell you cats can't be trained to do tricks... -t Quote
