MervGriffin Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 new "free" route on El Cap.......blah, blah, blah Mt. Everest climbed by 90 year old dwarfs....blah, blah, blah I lost my swiss army knife (a.k.a. my "swizzle izzle knizzle") somewhere between the REI parking lot and the rock gym....blah, blah, blah. Now here's some real news!: Lance Armstrong won the final stage of the Languedoc-Roussillon on Sunday. So take that, you scoffers. Such races are mere training rides for Mighty Lance. Watch him win The Tour in July and go back to your boulders humbled. GO LANCE! GO! Quote
ashw_justin Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Lance's newly designed race suit, the culmination of several years of secret development by our nation's top materials scientists and aerodynamic engineers, has resulted in the finest, most revolutionary breakthrough in competitive road bicycling. The US Postal service, official owner and sponsor of the new race suit, has plans to release it for public consumption in 2005, following Lance's victory in the Tour de France. However there is rumor that the USPS may authorize the release of a professional version to its employees prior to the conclusion of the Tour. Quote
selkirk Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 As memory serves it was actually tested during development here at UW in one of the Wind Tunnels. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 i thought ashw was talking about lance's birthday suit. Quote
Winter Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 good thing he ain't got gonads left cause that shizzle would fizzle. Quote
ashw_justin Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 good thing he ain't got gonads left cause that shizzle would fizzle. Well apparently that was a critical design factor accomplished in cooperation between Lance and the suit designers. The modification supposedly saves about 0.126 kg/m^2 force due to pressure at a speed of 40 km/h. Quote
jja Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 yeah, but he only lost one to cancer, so they had to superglue on a little vortex generator to compensate for the asymetric drag. Quote
rbw1966 Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Here's to hunchbacks with farmer's tan. Here's to bible-thumping shit-talkers. Quote

Blake Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 And what place did he get in the race? nobody even cares about finishers 1-5 who BEAT him. Quote

RichTurley Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 Don't know where I heard it but I thought Lance lost his US Post Office sponsorship. He is wearing the jersy in the commercial. Anyone know anything about it? Rich Quote
jon Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 The sponsorship ends at the end of racing season. Rumorville says that there are companies fighting to get this sponsorship, including NASCAR, AMD, and Barry Floor. 10 million a year for a sports team with one of the most incredible athletes to grace the earth is a fucking steal! Quote
olyclimber Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 Only thing is, how long will they have LA for. My guess is a year, max. You have to think about the Postal Team's chances after Lance. If I were that team, I'd insist on a 5 year contract or something... Quote
icegirl Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 Word on the street is Postal service will dissolve after Lance wins #6. Quote
j_b Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 it'd be great if there were several us brand teams since there appears to be a number of potential sponsors, but the post-lance us coverage of cycling does not necessarily have a bright future. Quote
JoshK Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 Lance embodies two things that americans love...a big comeback and euro's getting their asses kicked. Quote

jon Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 Are you kidding? He won Romandie for the second year in a row. Quote
ashw_justin Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 i thought ashw was talking about lance's birthday suit. that's because I was... Actually the Birthday Suit is a registered trademark of the US Postal service and your use of the trademark without proper legal consent or proper trademark recognition is punishable by a fine of $10 Million which will be used to fund US Postal Service Tour de France sponsorship for next year. (feel big smackdown coming on, after all she is THE LAW GODDESS...) Quote
