Too bad I won’t live so long but it will be a boon to NW rock climbing – as long as it is accompanied by drought! At least 15,000 of the deaths in western europe were elderly French citizens who died in their nursing homes while the state-run medical program was on their annual 5-week August 'holiday'. Most climate models that they site claim that increasing temperatures will also lead to considerably less stable weather. One side effect to this, they believe, will be increased rain in many coastal areas. It's possible the rain forest could begin to cover more than just the west side of the Olympics. Eventually insurance companies are going to start getting pissed when enough of their profits go to pay for cleaning up extreme weather events. Â For those of you who can't wait for warm weather around here try and remember that our consistant supply of drinking water and hydro power are directly related to the snow pack in the cascades.
