You know just yesterday as I was walking at lunch I was thinking how warm it was and what a great climate the NW will have once global warming is in full effect. Too bad I won’t live so long but it will be a boon to NW rock climbing – as long as it is accompanied by drought! Here’s hoping. bigdrink.gif

1.) Nowhere does the story cite human activity as the cause for the current warming trend. Have I ever denied that global warming is real? No, just that human activity cannot explain the phenomenon.

2.) At least 15,000 of the deaths in western europe were elderly French citizens who died in their nursing homes while the state-run medical program was on their annual 5-week August 'holiday'. I guess French government doctors don't carry pagers while their patients are dying of heatstroke.

Nice try Dru. rolleyes.gif

What basis do you have to claim it cannot explain the formula. I'm assuming you have no sort of environmental science degree or anything remotely related, right?

Pretty unlikely. Most climate models that they site claim that increasing temperatures will also lead to considerably less stable weather. One side effect to this, they believe, will be increased rain in many coastal areas. It's possible the rain forest could begin to cover more than just the west side of the Olympics. cantfocus.gif

For starters, the 'warm period' that lasted through the 1500's and was ended by 'the little ice age'.

And this....

Do you propose that humans are responsible for Mars global warming too? Could solar activity/cycles be at work in both cases?

Throw yet another liter o'jet fuel on the fire my young 'Russian Hardman in Training'. hellno3d.gif

did the U.S. care when 5-10 million died in ukraine? do they care now about the millions dying in the congo? ne eh. so why oh why would you expect them to care about a measly 21,000 deaths... p-shaw!

uh, scott, I hate to tell you this, but we fought and won WWII because of what was going on in Europe. I must ask just what the Hell political genocide has to do with weather-related deaths?

I believe the problem we have is Bush and Cheney being owned by the oil industry. Eventually insurance companies are going to start getting pissed when enough of their profits go to pay for cleaning up extreme weather events.

For those of you who can't wait for warm weather around here try and remember that our consistant supply of drinking water and hydro power are directly related to the snow pack in the cascades. I hope you enjoy paying for fancy bottled water to flush your toilet.
