EWolfe Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 The latest releases are so very suck. Wander the aisles of your local video store: wall after wall of new releases there are such a load of recycled crap. "All the great themes have been used up, and turned into theme parks" --Christian Slater from "Pump Up The Volume" I think the last really good, original movie I saw was "Good Will Hunting". Pissed-off, jaded smart people are so cool. Reminds me of a crowd I know... Quote
mtn_mouse Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Just saw Sleepless in Seattle. I know, it has been out for years. Should have never watched it. Quote
ridehikeclimbski Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 What can be worst than Jackass, the movie , I did manage a few laughs but what a dumbass show. Daughter brought movie over last weekend , glad I didnt waste $3.79 for it ! Quote
bunglehead Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 "Master And Commander" was pretty bad. Quote

vegetablebelay Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 John Q starring Denzel Washington was a diatribe against the healthcare system in the U.S. disguised as a terrible movie. Quote

Kinda slow at times, but I thought the effects during the storms were good. And I was pretty amazed that they could repair the damage to the ship at sea after battles (maybe that's just wishful hollywood thinking). That scene where the doc did surgery on himself was gruesome. And perhaps the most important part is that...Russell Crowe is a pretty fine male specimen to gaze at on a big screen for 2.5 hours. Quote
bunglehead Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Okay, the battle scenes were awesome. As was the surgery. But how the fuck did the ships end up looking brand new after all the shizzy they put em through? And the ending?!! PEEE-YEEEW. Worst ending ever! Quote
chelle Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 No there are worse endings. Most things that come out of hollywood have to tie up all the loose strings and let you rejoice in the fact that the guy gets the girl. Like Pirates of the Carribean for instance. Overall an entertaining Disney flick and great performance by Jonny Depp, but the ending nearly destroys the film. Those are worst endings ever. Quote
bunglehead Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Fair enough, Ehm. But still, a stinky ending. Quote

scott_harpell Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 no. it was phenomenal. i was suggesting it as an alternative to the prites of the carribean dribble taht these clows are watching. Quote
Dan_Harris Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 We have had cartoons turned into movies (Flintstones, Scooby Doo), old TV shows into movies (Charlies Angels, The Hulk), and now Disney is making movies based on Disneyland attractions (Pirates of the Carribean, Haunted Mansion). What can be ripped off next, toys, comic books? Oh wait comic books have been done (Superman, Batman). Oh wait, TV ripped those off before the movies got them. Quote
Off_White Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Umm, we're also into kids picture books these days. The obvious Dr Suess (grinch, cat in the hat) but I just saw a trailer for "Polar Express" which was a great kids book by Chris Von Allsburg. These they have to fluff up to movie length, unlike the oft times radical surgery required to try and fit a novel into a single movie. Quote
EWolfe Posted November 20, 2003 Author Posted November 20, 2003 I just watched Dumb and Dumberer, even Eugene Levy was bad, and I usually like him. Also, recently: Twenty-six Days Later by te guy who did Trainspotting. Just plain mediocre It was touted as a "scary zombie movie". It wasn't Crap report finished Quote

I agree that he's a fine male specimen, but I don't think the blonde pony tail and knee breeches is a good look for him. He was hotter in "LA Confidential". For prettier examples of men in 18th century garb, check out "Interview with a Vampire". Pretty bad movie, but good eye candy if you're into that . Quote
sk Posted December 6, 2003 Posted December 6, 2003 I can't wait untill TROY ( ithink thats what it is called) comes out YUM YUM Quote
Dru Posted December 6, 2003 Posted December 6, 2003 TROY is such an 80's mullet name. Hi, my name's TROY. Ladies, wanna sit in my Mustang and listen to some Def Leppard? It's totally bitchin'! Quote
catbirdseat Posted December 6, 2003 Posted December 6, 2003 Yes and Troy was popular back in 1250 BC, but those goddam Greeks ruined everything. It goes to show you everything comes back into style if you are willing to wait long enough. Quote
