layton
I posted something in climbing partners too. Just moved here and I don't know squat. What's good and where is it: rock, ice, hiking, biking, running, bars, gear shops, rock gyms, fitness gyms, good chow, etc... I live in the NE part of town near the meth labs and the chiropractic college that I now attend. Need partners too! Any info is much appreciated!!!! cj001f
Meth Labs? I thought those were all out in Clackamas & Sandy! Â If your looking for climbing - Rocky Butte (84 & 205) is close to you - our head out to Broughton's Bluff (84 & the Sandy River) Â Try Spaceroom (or bog - but worse drinks) on Hawthorne if your into drinks..... b-rock
rock = beacon, broughton, rocky butte and bouldering on the fortress if short on time. Â ice = hardly never. gorge sometimes. hood in december. Â hiking = gorge, hood. Â biking = forest park, powell butte, hood river. Â running = forest park, away from the meth dealers. Â bars = lot's, depends on your hood. Â gear shops = climbaxe for climbing, us outdoor for skiis, next adventure for budget. Â rock gyms = portland rock gym in SE. Â fitness gyms = dunno. Â good chow = in NE - la siranita for burritoes, bellafacia for slices, yam yams for grits. Â NE is where to be if you pick the right spot. layton
anyone else got any useful climbing, or living in PDX beta? Come on!
adventuregal
Climb at Beacon Rock!! Â There are some great hikes in the Columbia river gorge if you find a trail not overrun by tourons. But they're probably thinning out now. Besides, if you go more than 2 miles then you'll be by yourself anyways!! They only go to the closest waterfall possible and then turn around... Â Go to Hood River. Only an hour away. Good beer there. Learn to windsurf!!! or kiteboard!! Â Have fun! Â Â Â Â
Farrgo
Broughton Bluff at Lewis and Clark SP is pretty sweet. The crag is clean, especially compared to the butt and there are some stellar routes there too. If your gonna make the trip out to Hood River though, then head up to Bulo Point There are some nice bolted routes there, the only problem is the road in. Ursa_Eagle
Sharma-fest? Â I would have laughed if Sharma has missed the jump onto the stage... That guy's a sick climber though. I liked the Katie Brown butt-shot of her topping out (the one where everyone cheered.) Anyone else go to the "kegger" afterward? (only one free beer, the rest you had to pay for )
ivan
pete's pile out by hood (at the cooper spur turnoff) was fun the one time i went there...seem to recall there was a bunch more to explore
texplorer
Senor Layton, You should also explore Portland's vast array of stip clubs to, of course, bone up on your anatomy for chiropractic school.
Dr_Flash_Amazing
Best rock climbing in Portland is at Smith Rock, best beer's at the Bridgeport Alehouse or Brewery. Everything else is irrelevant.

There's better beer, and much better atmosphere, elsewhere in town. Bridgeport is like an uber Mcmenamins.
texplorer
The lucky lab is the shizzle if you like stout. Of course it is a lycra free zone, hence DFA's disdain of aforementioned abode.
texplorer
Oh, and the best rock climbing in p-town is at BEACON.

b-rock
They say November but I'm guesing January. It's going to be awesome though, way better space than the old one.
Ursa_Eagle
if they're saying "November" and they're using contractors (of course), me thinks January is being optimistic...
