Why those saps waited for that lousy Texan shortcutter is beyond this Doctor's reckoning. They shoulda stole his water bottle and bailed!

That's why they get paid big $$$ to ride their bikes all day long.

The fall came with about 6 miles left in the 99-mile stage. Armstrong slammed to the road after a spectator's outstretched bag caught his handlebars.

"Armstrong said he was partly to blame because he was riding too close to the edge of the road. "

Also note that Armstrong would be cited if he was riding within the City of Seattle city limits for failure to wear a safety bucket on his head.

Woah! They don't wear helmets!? Didn't realise that. I thought they'd do it at least for the aerodynamics.

They don't for the road race portion. Too hot, probably. See the pic a few posts above. Not a helmet among the bunch of them.

But they do for the time trials. Real pointy-back thingies. I think the next time trial is on Saturday.

Pretty amazing if you can imagine how fast they get moving downhill on some of those mountain stages. I think I'd be scared to go that fast on a 1cm tire without a helmet! Geek_em8.gif

helmets are now mandatory for all pro races (after kirilev died this year). they just don't wear them on long uphill (too hot). most riders don't like the new rule though.

That is Tyler Hamilton! He is American. He is the next in line for American dominance after Lance retires. Come on! Don't you know your american riders by site.
