David_Parker Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 I think this would be an excellent time to go ski Triple Couloirs. I would do it if I was in better shape and a little younger. (I've become more conservative in my age!) If it hasn't been done, go get it! All you have to do is rap the ice section between 1st and 2nd couloirs. The rest was in excellent ski shape on Wed. 5-21-03! Quote
JoshK Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 Yeah, I thought about it last time I was there. It's not that hard of a ski if you rap the ice section. Now granted, if you biff, you get flushed big time. Quote

JoshK Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 Dude...55 or *SO*...for all we know it was pushin' 60! When you are that rad you can be non chelant (sp?) about a mere 55 degrees! Quote
skykilo Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 55 might not be too bad with the right kind of snow. Nothing steep seems as scary with powder, but then the avalanche factor can be pretty creepy. Quote
Szyjakowski Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 dude, if you ski TC, you probably will take out ten cc.comers...not really a good idea...don't you think? wait, maybe ray will be there.... Quote
iain Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 where was that thread about getting folks in over their heads via spray? dude first tells someone he does not know (I think?) to go solo the climb, and later in another thread, suggests it would be a decent ski. Just be sure to remember the 2 meter rule of BLS. If you have to walk more than 2 meters to do chest compressions after rescue breathing, you can legally discontinue CPR. Quote

I've been thinking about that sucker. Setting up the anchor on that kind of slope would be interesting though. You first! Hey sky, you and me. Let's go. Leave the rope, crampons, and axes at home though. We're going light... Edited May 23, 2003 by AllYouCanEat Quote
ExtremoMtDude Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 Well golly, I just may have to go snatch this one up? Has it been skiied yet? I love getting firsties but don't really mind sloppy seconds all too much, even with the women LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
skykilo Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 I did it by moonlight last night. I downclimbed the rappel with a whippet in one hand and a paperclip in the other. I don't know why all these people keep climbing it, it just wasn't that great. I prefer more objective hazards, like falling seracs, rockfall, sketchy bridges, and rabid snafflehounds. There was a bit of water ice that made for a few refreshing turns. Quote
JoshK Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 It's been skied before. Extremo, that shit is below your level. Quote

Cpt.Caveman Posted May 23, 2003 Posted May 23, 2003 Is it even worth the time to hike all the way in there to ski it? I think there are better lines nearby. Probably a lot less crowded too. Quote
fleblebleb Posted May 24, 2003 Posted May 24, 2003 Definitely a "better" ski than Stuart Glacier Couloir -> a whole lot longer... Too bad they're both at least 10 degrees too steep for me Quote
