canada = no guns, no fun

# of firearm homicides in Canada................ 165

# of firearm homicides in the US................. 11,127

Avg. Firearm homicide rate in Canada.......... 0.7 per 100,000

Avg. Firearm homicide rate in US................ 5.7 per 100,000

Avg. handgun homicide rate in Canada........ 0.3 per 100,000

Avg. handgun homicide rate in US.............. 4.8 per 100,000

You tell me who's got the gun thing figured out.

Wrong question, Dalius. You tell me who has freedom, liberty, and self-determination figured out. Oh, and currently Britain has higher violent crime rates than the U.S., thanks to that great gun-control plan they have over there. rolleyes.gif

Number of people in US...... 281,000,000

Number of guns in the US... 200,000,000

Number of people who own these guns... 60,000,000

....and that's just the registered ones.

Have to clear this up for you, Dalius. There aren't "registered" guns in the U.S., per se. However, ALL guns are serialized and reported to the BATF upon manufacture and sale. This is where these numbers come from. It's not like there is a huge cache of guns that cannot be traced or accounted for at some point. Granted, there is certain amount of weaponry that gets into the U.S. illegally. It must be stated here that the firearms manufacturing industry is THE MOST REGULATED industry in the United States, at this time. You are misleading people by your statement; probably due to ignorance, but now you know.

Hey Greg I think Dalius was talking about Canada not Britian. I've been to Canada quite a bit, and they seem to have a nice life up there. Ya know freedom, beer, mountains, etc.

I know, AK; I was just mentioning Britain's "success" at gun control because that is what Dalius is supporting in a de facto way. You mention freedom: how much freedom does their tax system provide? How free are they in their health care decisions? Why do so many of them look like dirty hippies? These are all important issues. wink.gif

I'm no expert on taxes or health care in Canada, but I've seen a lot of dirty hippi's both here and there. Also I've never seen large leper colonies in Canada.
