WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Spring ski-in???

Recommended Posts

I never did the 10th mountain. I mostly made up my own traverses. I would definitely be into doing more hut trips. Jules, have you checked out British Columbia?! Super sweet cheeburga_ron.gif I see a lot of potential up there. Chris, we're looking at April when hwy 20 opens. Corn Camp... thumbs_up.gif

Sorry, just back from 3 days in Stehekin. Wow, that place is cool in Winter. Too bad rainbow falls wasn't frozen.

All I ask of people that visit the cabin (and surrounding property) is that we leave it better than we found it. That means we don't use all their firewood and fill up the outhouse. I'm thinking a portapotty may be necessary and we put firewood in their woodshed. I cut some last fall and it should be dry now. Other than that, there is plenty of room and the owner would be delighted to know a bunch of climbers and skiers are getting together to party. Also, the owner has a party sometime in May also, so we'll have to work around that weekend. Chances are, the pass will be open sooner. I can't be at next 2 pub clubs (going to Canada) but perhaps the next one I can attend, some firmer plans can be made. I'm pretty sure you won't be dissappointed in the location. Erik can attest to that!

Don't worry about firewood Dave.

The portapotty would be a good thing to do. I'm sure we could get one dropped off easy.

I can bring firewood or the implements to make some if there is a wood lot nearby, and I will definitely contribute $$ for a portapotty and beer. I will also bring a bunch of local, grillable meats. Is there a grill there or should I come prepared?

No need to bring a grill. Multiple big Webers and a custom grill as well. Just bring the briquettes. It would be good if a few brought firewood, but we can probably cut some too. There can be a campfire at the tent area or near the cabin or both.

We will keep an eye on the progress of clearing the highway. When they announce a projected opening date, we will pick a weekend as soon after it opens.

So there was some talk at Pub Club about making this weekend the Spring Party at Dave's place in the Methow.

I could go this weekend, but I think it's kind of short notice for a party. I would be more in favor of next weekend. (26/27)
