  1. I bought a pair of the thermo liners too (which are too short for my Lasers ) I molded liners & footbeds at the same time. The footbeds were a pain to get in the liner - 1 turned out well, the other not so well.
  2. I can agree with that - Marmot were among the first in the US to import AT gear though. Sorry to hear they live in between.
  3. Their website's still around, but it no longer lists anything but fleece. Have they gotten out of the technical gear market?
  4. I didn't find the article, but I thought this was interesting "Despite his great enthusiasm and energy -- he climbs with mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner -- Schrempp has taken a lower profile in the last three years as he has faced tough questions about the wisdom of his ambitious global strategy." Schrempp is Jurgen Schrempp, head of Daimler-Chrysler. Weird!
  5. I haven't heard of anyone getting a sled for a broken ankle - and when boots come up high on the shin, I can't even see how you'd break your ankle.
  6. Have you checked out Allen & Mikes Telemark Ski Book? I found reading 1 or 2 tips from there, then focusing on those for the day helped me progress beyond the intermediate stage of teleskiing. Paul's book just has too much for my pea brain to remember on the hill.
  7. I've never heard anyone complain once they had their Limmer's. The customs are not cheap, and the wait was long (like a year) last I checked. I don't use heavyweight hiking boots anymore - mountaineering boots, or lighter weight (Asolo 525)
  8. Sole footbeds are nice, as are superfeet. Different styles though. If your in PDX OMC has the Sole footbeds for $20.
  9. Dude- Why'd you even stop between the bay area and tahoe? marmot in Berkley has the goods.
  10. Have you ridden a pair of T-Races? And I'm still trying to figure out why you can't ski in the back seat on Tele gear. I do all the time. It's getting forward on the skis that's dicey.
  11. I'll try mine tonight. I've the Vasque clone of the old La Sportiva K2 & 555's.
  12. Powells on Burnside has a buttload. (insert joke here) Including a used copy that I bought last night. It wasn't even one of the book review copies they usually have. Weird.
  13. My sister just got a husky. She's 6months old, weighs 75 lbs and drags you for the whole length of a walk. I can't wait to get her on snow! From what I've heard/read from mushers the booties are for high mileages on icy/corn snow.
  14. I have done tele turns in my AT gear for my brother's camera when the terrain was really flat. The reason is that a telemark looks more dynamic on film than a parallel turn in those conditions. Ok, Ok, I guess I should have said, "no non-aesthetic reason". Maybe it's my tele background, but I don't have that much problem skiing AT gear paralell without the heel locked down. I'd worry about damaging the bindings with prolonged use (but them, I can break anything)
  15. I can think of a number of reasons to ski without the heel locked on AT binding, but none to try to tele with AT gear.
  16. The Washington Side of The Gorge: Cape Horn Area 25 miles from I5 on SR14, described Left to Right Hanging Curtain WI3+ 80fft Dodge City WI3 80ft The Pillar WI3+ 80ft Phantom Gully WI3 300ft Silver Streak WI3+ 300ft Salmon Run WI4+ 300ft Hamilton Mtn (NE of beacon, off of FR4270) The Strand Grade IV-V, WI5+/6 Oregon side of the gorge is in PDX Rock, which I don't have here at work.
  17. The joys of the night shift
  18. I can see the marketers at work: Schoeller, the Goretex of the 00's
  19. It's German w/English subtitles, bout 20 minutes of actual vid footage. Definitely cool!

    Very cool idea!
  21. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Crystal & Baker on Forest Service land? I think that's been part of Silverton's problem - they're the first ski area to use BLM land, and the agency is starting from sratch on how to oversee & regulate, and has a much different history of land regulation.

What, a Xeroxed page that says pray for hell freezing over?
  23. You know Fairweather, I think there may be a place for you in the Ashcroft Department of Justice......
  24. I wonder why more women don't post here. It is puzzling. Perhaps it because there is open hatred toward women on this site. Just an observation. There's that cascadeclimbers bad attitude again!
  25. My friends make fun of my blue Denalis. I hope they're just jealous. I'll have to buy Garmont next time so I can be stylish. They must not have seen the earlier hot pink Denalis
