After much much much uplooking and bolt searching (I made a grid system of all of goat wall) I think i hurt my neck and never found a bolt. The Frigid Air Buttress is a fun climb, but since it's a Herbst route, it is a little stiffer than the rest of the grades there. Lots of funky wide stuff, and another of his famous 5.9+ cracks. Also, finding the decent is challenging. I would plan on getting to the top well before dark. I wouldn't do the link up until I had a few red rocks epics under my belt. Finally, no, Mt. Wilson would not qualify in my under 2 hour decent category, but it also does not qualify in the grade IV category either. I thought you were a critical reader Jason?

Just saw Alien Vs. Anyway, I didn't realize it until then, but ice climbing is really really easy now i guess. hmm, the more you know the more you grow i say. all should watch and learn. Also, later in the movie when they are decending into the ice tunnel, the shoot ice screws into the bullet hard ice with ICE SCREW GUNS!!! OH THANK YOU GOD! It is about fucking time that we caught up to the cliffhanger bolt gun technology. I am now more ready than ever to send the gnar gnar this winter, thanks to Alien vs. Predator!

Red Rocks Grade IV's are very very low commitment and most do not deserve the grade IV. Everything there should probably be downgraded a full number, and most of the ratings are way overrated too. You should have no problem climbing a grade IV on consecutive days. I'm REALLY not trying to sound like, "i'm soo cool I can do this..blah blah blah", red rocks longest approach is only 2 hours. (longest decent also 2 hours). All I'm saying is don't limit yourself, go for it and see what happens. p.s. black orpheus to chicken lips is wicked fun for a link up.
