Somebody sent me that video a while ago. I have to give more points to these chicks though. 40 foot footlock ascent in 19 seconds, or something like that. [video:youtube] This is from the International Tree Climbing Competition in St. Louis last July.

That little schwacky part crossing the creek is always amusing. I like the video It looks like you traversed skiers left at the bottom of the couloir?

Cheaper than UW tuition, and not quite as out of state as you assume.

She went to about 5 Colleges, but finished her last semester at UI. A degree in communications I think

Carry that cell phone - in case of an avalanche
AlpineK replied to ScaredSilly's topic in Climber's Board
If he didn't have enough space to use his hand cell phone he wouldn't have had enough oxygen to survive 3 to 4 hour under the snow like he did. Perhaps Gym would like to tell us a story about a incredible climbing adventure he survived thanks to his bluetooth cell phone. -
Matt has a good point. While wide pro can help, the offwidth is in a dihedral. You can add in face climbing moves to the mix. For an offwidth it isn't too bad.

Carry that cell phone - in case of an avalanche

NWAC runs out of money in the spring, but according to statistics I've seen there are a lot of avy fatalists then. New snow + warm weather + south facing slope = bad -
Carry that cell phone - in case of an avalanche

Sure, carry a cell phone if you know you're going to get reception where you are going. Granite mountain next to I-90 would work, but there are lots of areas in the Cascades with no reception. -
Kevbone is a resident of Washington Oregon won't let him live there, and Washington keeps asking him to leave.

[font:Arial] Lesson #1 Do not piss in the camp fire when fellow campers are within 50 feet or directly downwind

A friend sent that to me a few weeks ago. Funny stuff.

No doubt, that sounded like a real bummer to go through. Have a drink when you get back to the house.

I've been up that side of Adams several times. Most skiers ski it in the spring. South facing slopes turn to corn faster than northern ones, and booting the climb is the common ascent method. Every time I've been there there was a boot track up the ascent route. In conditions like that ski crampons have little value. Regular crampons let you ascend early in the morning when the snow is harder. Early starts are a good since you ski earlier in the day. If you start late more snow turns to slush by the time you're actually skiing down. ilookeddown has two other good points. Hauling camping equipment up the hill isn't necesary. Just car camp and do it in a day. Unless you really want to tent camp higher on the mountain that is. Since the common ascent route gets booted so much it tends to be chopped up. The SW Chutes are a lot better. More difficult skiing, but they ain't super exterme. Make sure you know when to cut to skiers left to regain the ascent trail.

Society shells out $4Mil and gets Feck in return. Sad. Actually, your failure to read shows itself in these comments.

Fairweather spends hour studying the details of talking points emailed to him by Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh. He knows his stuff

We should let Bernard Madoff manage Social Security while in prison [img:center]http://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen/149919/thumbs/s-MADOFF-ASSAULT-BERNARD-MADOFF-PRISON-ATTACK-large.jpg[/img] I bet a lot of Republicans are behind getting the maximum value out of warehoused inventory

Trip: Snoqualmie Pass - Bryant Couloir Date: 3/27/2010 Trip Report: Two friends and I planned on a loop tour near Chair Peak and Snow Lake. The first view of the eastern face of Chair we got while driving towards Alpental revealed a huge slab fracture crown in the bowl we were going to ski up. I had visions of a longer tour, but rising temperatures were forecast, and NWAC mentioned increasing hazards in the afternoon. When we reached Source Lake we decided north facing slopes would stay cool longer. We skied towards the Tooth and then to Bryant Peak. View northeast from the col Glacier Peak Snow in the Bryant Couloir looked nice. Powder! The upper couloir held the nice powder, but altitude loss brought us back to the variable crust we knew was waiting for us. Warming temperatures were making their presence known when we reached Source Lake, and we saw a few point release avalanches coming down near Rap wall. There was no talk of a second skin up. The rest of the ski tour was a game of frogger dodging folks heading up the trail. We were back at the car at noon. A short but fun day of skiing.

Here's an old view of Socialism Socialism Label If Fairweather an KK are so opposed to health care legislation then it would logically follow they would be against Social Security and Medicare. I'm afraid logic and clear thinking is beyond Teabaggers. Right now I imagine quite a few stockpiling guns and muttering about the 2nd Amendment.

Nice pictures and video -
Bring It! Single payer gets my vote. In reality with the political climate we have I'm skeptical it could have passed. The current bill brings out the racist/anti gay side of Teabaggers. A single payer system would probably inspire them to break out their firearms. Incidentally StevenSeagals figure of $150,000 is a very low figure. Without insurance I amassed about 4 million dollars in medical expenses.
