There are a couple ways to take a nasty comment dirrected at you. If you get made fun of by a bunch of folks over the same issue then you should try and adapt your style. It's always hard to take negative remarks, but if you can use them for personal growth then that's a good thing. If one person is attacking you for no good reason then you can either ignore them or fight back. Being able to deal with all sorts of freaky people is a very good skill, and this site will train you well.

If someone cheastbeats in a TR then they deserve to be made fun of. But just cause you get made fun of doesn't mean you should stop writing TRs; just try and improve your writing style. I should add that the difficulty of your route is different from cheastbeating. You can write a good report on da toof but someone else could write a cheastbeater about the North Norwegian Buttress. As for Pub Club, you're just grumpy cause you ain't 21.

Getting politicians involved in anything may or may not be a good idea. In this time of tight budgets I can see political types imposing more user fees on us. Bureaucrats in the FS have a long history of fucking with not only climbers but other user groups. I'm very skeptical that one event will change things or help.

I think we did the right thing in Afganistan. I figure there would be no realistic chance to find Osama's location, but we did know where all of Al Quida's training bases were. Plus the Taliban were a bunch of motherfuckers. We fucked up by invading Iraq so soon. There are only a few intelligence folks who speak Arabic, so we've dilluted the pool of spy's to track down Osama. Plus Iraq is going to be a big financial drain for a long time. Instead of invading Iraq we should have come down hard, diplomatically, on Saudi Arabia.

If you're trying to win friends (like the poll indicates you need to) you're going about it the wrong way.

Just keep in mind Beck The Man is often A Tool. I've been climbing this weekend, so I've missed most of this crap, however I would add this. I've avoided Marmot because Beck worked there, so I don't know anything about hot climber chicks working there. All I can say is, despite whether Beck is trolling or not, the tone of his posts just ooze with Beck's charactor, which is that of a major fucking asshole. I also find it interesting that the organizer of a party for CC.com calls the posters on that site losers

What really happened was more like this: The Lt Gov got sent off to another useless state function at the Pike Place Market. He was enjoying himself at first. I can see him thinking to himself, this isn't bad, I don't have any authority, but I'm getting a paycheck to eat this nice lunch with 20 people. All of a sudden this annoying poneytail guy he'd been trying to avoid all day gloms onto him and starts rambling about some roped thing in Leveanworth. The Lt Gov makes some remarks to placate the freak and tries to return to his meal. When Beck figures out the Lt. isn't going to listen to him go on and on he picks up a chair and throws it across the restaurant and screams, "I demand respect." At this point the Lt Gov gives a nod to 2 State Troopers and Beck is lead away to jail. 3 squares and internet access ain't bad huh Beck.

I went to my 10th, but I skipped my 20th in favor of climbing at WA pass.

so now anyone who has ever started climbing is required to be comfortable with rappelling within two days after they first climbed??? I rarely say this to anyone, but I think you need to learn about how dangerous rappelling can be the hard way... If I was instructing a newbie to rappel I would take them to a real cliff and send them over the edge (with a lot of talking and a back up belay) At least thats what I've done in the past.

Beck if you ever actually do some technical climbing that would be something. I'm with Erock, If you need to create a totally repulsive image of yourself to start a troll then you suck anyway.

Heeeello: New flash. There is no clearcutting in the National Park System. You must mean USFS. While the NPS may not allow clearcutting for timber sale they do do a lot of developement and tree killing to support RV drivers.
