So what you're saying is that 3 days after CBS released photos of prisoner abuse Rumpy came clean. How does that square with Rumpy knowing about abuse in January and waiting months to tell the president. How does that square with the Red Cross complaining about prisoner abuse over a year ago? Why did GW say that he wasn't informed soon enough about the situation? I'm not expecting a real answer from you, but I thought I'd bring these points up.

Martlet just because you have the time and energy to post in spray does not mean that you are right...all it means is that you're posting a lot. Yep the Saudis are a fucked up bunch. However we went over there to bring freedom and democracy to those guys. It stands to reason that we've got to be pure as the new driven snow when it comes to our behavior. It's not good enough to say that those guys are worse than we are...there should be nothing to compare if we're not to be seen as hypocrits.

As to my earlier point. Let me make it clear that I do think that those soldiers in the photos deserve some kind of punishment, however I believe that they didn't just start doing all this in a vacuum. As wirlwind stated there are ways to get folks to do things that they would not otherwise do. We all like to think that we're immune to manipulation however nobody is. Those soldiers are guilty of something, but I'm sure that their commanding officers bare some responsibility. I would not be supprised if some of the higher ups didn't bare the prime responsibility. As to Rumpy. He stated earlier in the conflict that many of our prisoners taken in Iraq and Afganistan did not merit prisoner of war status under the Geneva convention; also he failed to inform other members of the government as to the situation. Because of his actions abuse went on for longer than it should and quite likely his public attitude gave some people the idea that this kind of behavior was acceptable. Even if nothing can be dirrectly pinned on Rumpy I still feel it's his responsibility to resign. All this happened on his watch, and our government now desperately needs to do something major to show the Arab world that we really take this matter very seriously. I hope he does the right thing.

Diesel is not nearly as flamible as gas. (neither is jet fuel) Diesel has more energy than gas. If you really want to burn some shit mix gas and diesel. Gas for quick lighting and diesel for staying power.

There's no doubt in my mind that the UN is a bureaucracy that's at least a little fucked up. While they may need cleaning up I think it's a lot more important that the invaders of a totalitarian country that say they're bringing freedom and justice to the country behave in an extremely squeeky clean manor. The US has failed to live up to the words that our leaders profess. I think we should let the UN take over; corrupt or not.
