That's pretty cool what you're doing with the sandblasting. I used to climb there in the 80s and the place was a pit; graffiti and junk were everywhere. Despite that I thought the rock was a fun place then. It sounds like it's even better now.

I'm a little late here, but I find Marylou's comments just wrong. TN is doing a good job of describing things from his perspective, which just happens to be a lot closer to the action in Iraq than any of ours. I don't always agree with what TN says, but I think it's downright offensive and narrow minded to discount his oppinion's the way Ml does.

We dropped a bunch of stuff out of a plane when we went to Lotus Flower. We put most everything in these screw top 2 gal containers. The pilot did a bunch of circles where we had a 5 second window to drop stuff into Fairy Meadow. The pilot flew as low and slow as he could. We had a lot of canned food that survived in a semi mangled condition and one container hit a rock in a streambed and exploded. I don't think I would drop a regular 1 gal white gas can. I'd pad a container and put a few metal fuel cans. Just make sure you have a back up plan if things explode, and don't use your $500 down parka as padding.

I remember when they were logging after the fires in the Icicle. They had the whole place shut down. I can see them doing the same or worse while there building this tunnel. After it's done there bound to put up a bunch of security fences and have roving security pigs fucking with climbers.

While the RC post is a good example of Lambone inspired dysfunction, the dude at RC who hates L has nothing on Captain Caveman. If he really hated Lambone he'd flood the board with bizarre death threats that somehow related to each forum.

If I had my way all you commuting suckers would take the bus leaving the highway open for trucks. I ain't talking about hummers either I mean real trucks...If you own a pickup you'd have to prove you needed to haul more than you could fit into a backpack.

Using the grocery store analogy I don't have a problem with trying to snake someone before you hit the line up, as long as you're not too aggro, but once the lineup starts thats when the no cutting rule applies.

The trail system just west of Boulder in the flatirons is really good. You can do some long hikes.

I would watch out for afternoon thunderstorms, and you shouldn't underestimate the number of folks who are out bagging 14ers. Everybody and their brother is out at 4AM on the trail to Longs Peak. We climbed a route on Meaker one time, and we had to run by the cattle train on the trail for a mile or more listening to angry people yelling at us for not saying, "on your right." There are some cool 13ers above Boulder. Arapaho Peak above Nederland is a cool walk up, and there's even a pocket glacier on it. Mt Meaker has some scramble routes on it, and you can see it from the plains. There's a, "glacier," on a peak right next to the Petit Grepon that would be a good hike. Hiking up towards Spearhead and Chief's head isn't really scrambling, but it takes you into an area of the park that is less used.
