  1. Should be just fine. Many options available for crevasse or serac climbing. Bring sunscreen and a helemt. Watch for dinner-plating. And when you drive by my office kill me.
  2. Most epic bivvys--mine included--has a silnylon floor with an epic top. Mine has not even been seam-sealed and while laying inside of it as my wife sprayed me with a hose I was unable to find any leaking. That was before I stepped on it with my crampons. Epic is delicate fabric so be careful. I like having the epic bivy because its light enough that you c an take it anywhere (mine is about 14oz) and it has a mosquito net--something worth its weight in gold if you are bivvying by Ingalls this time of year.

    burning CDs

I have found that using data CDs I get a success rate of about 80%. Using the CDs specifically marketed for music burjing I get a near 99% success rate. Maybe its the blank CDs you are using.
  4. I have an epic bivvy sac (not BDEL) and contrary to Josh's post its pretty weather resistant. You won't stay dry in a downpour but in light rain/snow/damp fog etc I've stayed pretty dry. I used mine for 4 days in Bolivia and woke up one morning in 4" of snow. I was dry.

    carpet bombing

Taste, of course. A true connoisseur of feces can not only date it within hours but a discerning palate can identify the pre-digested matter and the genera of bacteria inhabiting the host. Bon appetite!
  6. I told her she was NOT allowed to wear my blue blockers. Beyotch.
  7. When climbing in the backcountry, what group size is too big? I ran into a group of 4 mounties on Ingalls and the group leader said that the Mounties have a policy of only allowing one group of up to 4 people on any mountain at any time (I may have misunderstood him and he meant 4 on a route). According to this guy, the Mounties have some sort of database to ensure that overcrowding doesn't happen. He mentioned this after criticizing a group of 8 Mazamas on the same route behind him. I later ran into a group of 6 Mazamas on Three Finger Jack and Mt. Washington--all on the same route. Personally, I prefer climbing with one or two other people at the most.
  8. The mazamas fixed a rope on the 4th class section above the rappel on Mt. Washington yesterday. Is that considered booty even though they are using it at the time?
  9. how come Iain hasn't weighed in on this thread?

    Got MILF?

The phrase in question is "got milf". I dont even think the milk ad campaign was running back in 89/90. I still doubt Layton was the first to coin the phrase but if he wants the credit its all his. Go big.
  11. I've tripped and I cant come down
  12. You guys passed my wife and I on your way out. She hiked up to the notch with me then I soloed the rest of the climb. I was secretly poking fun at you two for wearing gaiters only to find myself jealous while descending that scree slope. More information on various routes can be found in Oregon High or in the Dodge guide.

    PATRIOT ACT

You need to read the links you posted again boi. You didn't cite the WSJ.
  15. only if you go with me There's not a chance in hell I will ever try our shortcut again.
  16. I'm not arguing that all the warnings are a good thing. I am hopeful that we will someday return to a culture that encourages acceptance of personal responsibility. My point in the post above is that intentionally omitting a warning from a known hazard could lead to liabilty exposure. Plaintiffs attorneys love to see stuff just like what you wrote. I dont think its right either.
  17. Why don't you just go back and get the old one Wes?
  18. Does this apply to beta as well? If you need beta are you not climbing the mountain on its own terms? Would you use the fixed lines on Denali? How about the cables on Half Dome? Clipping bolts? I agree that we need to police ourselves but not everything needs to turn into chestbeating and pissing contests. Don't like these fixed lines don't use them.
  19. Considering a warning for a known hazard and then specifically omitting it from the other warnings could really open them up to some liability issues.
