  1. Sounds like erik was out back by the dumpster puffin during those sex ed lectures in high school. erik: scroggin has nuthin to do with fertility aside from providing a vector. If you didn't know this then its a good thing your boys aren't much in the way of swimmers or you'd be loading the minivan instead of a bowl.

  4. Don't you mean national SALES tax?
  5. I couldn't agree more on the subject of dedicated tax funds for the schools. They should be one of our biggest priorities. Now stop your

  7. Chris--prisons are not funded by tax dollars, unless you refer to Mult county jail which is. Health Care benefits for the poor (Oregon Health Plan, I presume) is funded by state dollars, not the county. The Mult County tax passed by the voters (and I presume you are one) is earmarked specifically for schools and other services that benefit Multnomah County. Highest in the state? True, but no one else has a county tax. Its not permanent which is a good thing. Oregon needs a complete overhaul of its tax structure, but for that matter so does the entire US. Jim--you can deduct fed tax from state income tax but not vice versa.
  8. [ Dru's full of shit. In addition to the example that Off-White cited, there is the more recent example of the guy posting his TR of Hood wherein he stated he rode a snow cat up and he got all kids of flamage for taking the ride--justifiable or not, its these kinds of attacks that shy people away. Another example: who could ever forget the torrent of flames over Strickland's "on-site" of Leuthold Couloir? Unfortunate choice of language for sure--but the flames were relentless (and I was a guilty party as well). A thought: rather than flame people in their TR's how about discussing the offending comment, posture or whatever in Spray? This would keep the other forums 'cleaner'.

    Fuk Yeah

and I get a kick out of how chicks rip on other chicks. Not one guy had anything bad to say. Women need to stop bashing other women.

  12. Here's a good sufferfest for ya: Hike the trail in to Boston Basin to the base of Torment. Turn around and instead of heading back to the trail, head straight down the hill through the slide alder and devils club. Bring a rope 'cause you'll have the added bonus of some sketchy rapells--even more fun in the rain. You'll be out overnight. I guarantee it.

    jubelale

Its made by deschutes. Seems a bit early for the Jubel. Snow Cap is a righteous winter ale as well.
  14. How so. I'm interested in examples. Examples of subjective laws: 1. Abortion 2. Death with dignity 3. drug laws Need I go on? Furthermore, the very nature of the Supreme Court system is highly subjective: they pick and choose what cases are heard. Also, legislation is proposed in mostly arbitrary ways. To think that "Law" with a capital "L" is objective and universal shows a naivete that undercuts many of your libertarian arguments. I think a person has a right to his or her own labor and the ability to aquire wealth. However, we live in an environment where participation is an implicit acceptance of the ideals our social organization (for example public education, police and other social services). If you don't want your money funding them you have two choices: you can use your vote to change that which you dont agree with or you can move elsewhere. I think the disparity in wealth speaks ill of our culture.
  15. HRoark=mtngoat As for law not being subjective: you are incrrect. Laws are HIGHLY subjective and NOT always based on logic.
  16. I bought a Bibler hanging pot set at mountain gear for less than 20 bones. Already had the stove itself. Nice job on the homemade one though!

    Road Trip

76 hours? what did you do, set the cruise control at 35? I didn't take that long to drive from Atlanta to Portland via Sioux Falls in January. Good advice on the rest though.

  22. most likely... more power to the whole family then. I'm sure they wouldn't even be in it if they didn't want to... I totaly disagree Chris There are laws about child labor for a reason. We bring our children into the world to love them, not so they will pony up and pay our bills. "We" do? There are plenty of examples of children being born to parents who don't care for them. Tragic really.
