  1. This is pretty brutal, and yet hilarious: fatchicksinpartyhats
  2. I'm pretty sure I bought primaloft at Seattle Fabrics once, but I don't see it on their website... oh wait, it was Lite Loft I bought, not primaloft.
  3. I know Beckey has Snow Gulch mislabeled in the green book (I have the one with the bumpy cover)... he's got it below Sill glacier, which is on the NE (so further east of the whitehorse glacier route, not further west). The Whitehorse glacier/Snowgulch goes up the north/northwest side, right below the big rock wall with towers to the west, that the standard route is on the other side of.
  4. I was up in the area last weekend. Snow on Sahale arm looked pretty patchy... i.e. if you're contemplating skiing it, there would be a lot of hiking, not much skiing.
  5. RATM's cover of Maggie's Farm , but I've never heard the original. Is it any good?
  6. or get one of these: flame thrower
  7. Lawsuit-wise, something that just leaves a semi-permanent mark on the thief, rather than injuring him, might be safer (although less satisfying)... some sort of flurescent dye strip that you put somewhere he will touch (or that explodes in his face), but can still be safely removed by you. hmm
  8. Or for that matter, Cascade River road, where - conveniently - the whole road is considered a "trailhead". Keep paying Beck, maybe one day we'll get a nice big outhouse with TP at the boston basin trailhead, like the one they put at the Eldo TH (this is our Natural Legacy, you know).
  9. Why not just bring downhill gear and hike up on foot? Snow is pretty consolidated for walking these days...

  11. I think it means the cloud deck will be high... i.e. you aren't going to get high enough to pop out of the clouds.
  12. Exodus peak http://www.bivouac.com/MtnPg.asp?MtnId=711 looks like the broad dome just to the right of the pointy peak in sverdina's photo. ...Mt Tinniswood, like jordop said...
  13. Looking at the 92J mapsheet, a line from Wedge over Rainbow mtn goes over -Mt Callaghan -Exodus Peak -then a bunch in the Clendenning Range (Willson, Ralph, Pollock, Oswald, Perkins, Vanstone, blahblah) Can't tell anything from the 500ft contours though.
  14. Well, it could slide off and kill you. I saw two guys come within 30 feet of getting creamed there a few years ago.
  15. I think snoboy is correct regarding the pictures... copyright is implied.
  16. For 10$/month you should probably be getting something like 500MB, and unlimited data transfer.
  17. Call the ranger station... I called sunday, and they had a conditions report from a party that had just been up there. I only asked about the snow level on the approach (4500ft).
  18. Vegas is great, and if you don't need anything too fancy, their entry-level program called VideoFactory is good too. Someone mentioned the Canon Elura - I have one of those (40MC) and the things that suck about it are: 1) the mic picks up tape noise, and 2) batteries last less than half an hour (with the LCD off!). Otherwise it seems fine, and its really tiny.
  19. Poll:
  20. I think those gullies are briefly described in Dallas Kloke's book of winter climbs.
  21. Sledheads don't obey the wilderness boundary that runs along the Ingalls Pass ridge... and there's no one there to police them.
  22. There's an underground lake on top of Rainier...
  23. Good times... thanks Dave! Skiing Sunday was good, but nothing like Saturday. Found some nice glop on north slopes, and half crust half corn on south slopes. on a sad note, found out the Baker Street Grill in Concrete has closed shop
