  1. Marmot Mountain Works' Telemark and Randonee ski demo day will be held on Wednesday January 3rd 2007 at The Summit at Snoqualmie. The demo will be held at Summit West from 4pm until 9pm (Subject to snow conditions). This will most likely be the only event of this kind in our region this winter. Many of the manufacturer's representatives will be in attendance with their fleets of demo gear for you to try out.... a broad assortment of equipment will be available including gear from K2, Atomic, Black Diamond, G3, Karhu, Scarpa, Garmont, Fritschi, Naxo, Dynafit, and Silvretta. Marmot Mountain Works will also make available the majority of their store's demo gear. Bring your own telemark, randonee, or alpine downhill ski boots and poles if you have them in order to maximize your options and enjoyment. The use of the demo gear will be free of charge, but you will be required to purchase your own lift ticket. This demo is open to adult skiers, no kid's size equipment will be available. For more information, please call Marmot Mountain Works @ 425-453-1515. - We hope to see everyone on the slopes! -
  2. ROFL!!!
  3. Thanks everyone. We got a flurry of angry emails the other day ago from some guy who was unhappy that a few of his posts disappeared. He wanted to know who the CEO, President, Senior manager, Customer Service Representative where. I told him due to our recent SEC filing for IPO that I couldn't immediately reveal that information.
  4. Unfortunately I don't have time to individually thank people right now but we recieved a couple donations the last couple days and we really appreciate it. We've put a lot of work into the site the last couple months (mainly Tim and Porter) and it's nice to know people appreciate what we do. Additionally the moderators did an excellent job handling the sudden influx of people visiting the site with the Hood tragedy and all the media attention that we received. The last two days alone we have served over 1 million pages and had over 8000 unique visitors a day.. it's a lot to manage. These people are volunteers and do a very thankless job and put up with a lot of abuse. If you want to thank them feel free to click on the PayPal link and I will be treating them to drinks after the holidays.

  7. I believed Congress passed a rule that you can't operate your lightsaber in a protected wilderness area.
  8. Killing millions of innocent people is hilarious.
  9. Wasn't he 2 for 3? But the tackle and forced turnover were stupendous. I can't believe they have a winning record when you watch that offense and when you consider all of the injuries. Now they're without a fullback (they have no back-up). St. Louis and Frisco lost today so with any luck we'll be back in post-season play. Winning in Denver was a big deal. Yeah he missed what.... a 44 yarder when the offense couldn't get it done AGAIN?! That's still a long kick especially when it's that cold out. He's had, what, 4 game winners this year? His contract is up this year and I hope they give him 2 mil a year.

  14. The email will be going out tomorrow!
  15. Yeah, I should have an email out next week, sorry for the delay!
  16. From komotv.com A very potent storm has tapped into some tropical moisture near Hawaii (that's why you might hear it referred to as a "Pineapple Express") and that storm is just shuttling all that moisture right into western Washington. How wet? In the western Washington lowlands, we're expecting 2-6" of rain, and upwards of 5-10" in the Cascades and perhaps over 9-10" in the Olympics. For perspective, we usually get about 6" for the entire month of November, and most of Seattle's Top 10 wettest days ever are around 3". (The record being 5.02", set in October of 2003.) Snow levels are up around 10,000 feet, so it's all falling as rain up there.
  17. People need to focus their arguement on getting the rock moved and not to trying to keep them from building the offramp... because they will build it and they don't care about the rock.
  18. I saw Todd give a slide show at the Mountaineers, I think in '98. It was pretty damn inspiring, I actually still remember a lot of what he showed. I found myself getting out more after it. Regardless of what people think of his ethics he definately didn't waste his time on this planet.
  19. I got a kick out of this one... "A women without a man is like a fish without a bicycle."

    Research vs. Poverty

Eliminating higher education will help the problem now won't it! (btw I do agree we need to spend more money on helping the poor.)
  21. Marek sent me one of these calendars, and besides the amazing pictures the quality is top notch! Nice work!
  22. We're too busy fighting for grant money so that we have a job.
  23. Well all I can say is that I'm really sorry about the downtime, unfortunately our host has been a bit unrealiable the past couple months to say the least, and we are looking at solutions.
  24. We are moving one of our databases to a new (and hopefully much faster) server. The site will be down for 15 minutes during this time, and unfortunately can't tell you when this will happen.
  25. Marmot Mountain Works of Bellevue is sponsoring the Seattle area premier of the new telemark movie “PW06” from Powderwhore 8pm this Saturday 10/14/06 at Nectar Lounge. This will be one of the only new Telemark specific movies of the year (maybe the only one?). The Nectar Lounge is located in Fremont at 412 N. 36th ST, Seattle, WA 98103 (www.nectarlounge.com)(206-632-2020). $10 at the door gets you in for the movie, raffle, and music afterwards. Come get yourself psyched up for the upcoming winter season….it’s already snowed at least a couple of times at the higher elevations in the Cascades, and a few folks have already made their first powder turns of the season! For more information on the movie you can visit the Powderwhore website at www.powderwhore.com. So if you are not headed out to Leavenworth this weekend and you are looking for something to do locally this Saturday night, then head on down to Fremont to the Nectar Lounge. Think snow, and we hope to see everyone there!
