Too true on the Harley's. If you are ever in the need for a sucker to explore the area with I am game. Always up for an adventure climb, and capable. I can do a lot of schwacking for a little climbing with minimal complaining.

The discussion in this Trip Report leads me to ask the question: I am curious as to what others feel about removable bolts in the Darrington setting. On the open slabs I often find myself using the bolts as a roadmap of sorts while ascending a route that I am unfamiliar with. I am uncertain about the ability to spot an open bolt hole while on the vastness of the d-town glory. Thoughts?

@ Curt - it would be hard not to take that shot given the opportunity as the position is fantastic. @ Quarry - there were a handful of them although the majority of the bolts were good modern equipment.

Trip: South Early Winter Spire - Direct East Buttress Date: 7/21/2012 Trip Report: Gene and I climbed this route on Saturday July 21st. We were 13 hours car to car with about one hour total breaks on route, summit and descent. This was my first route on the East facing aspect and it was stunning. Here are some pics. Enjoy.

alpine draw For 48"s I will double or triple them over and tie a loose overhand knot and clip one of the sets of loops.

No dude search for Alpine quickdraw. Or take the 24 and do a half twist and double it. Now it is a 12. Do it one more time and it is a 6. One biner on it and rack it. the Alpine draw method is a little cleaner when implemented but I have gotten used to my method.

Rack them doubled up (shortened) with one biner and clip it to your harness.

From personal experience the Blueberry Butt is only in the shade until around 11:00 or so and that it gets mighty warm. Me and three others spent some time sweltering in the heat while hiding behind the big flake on the forest/bluberry terrace ledge. this picture shows exfoliation dome with simulated sunshine at around the 11:30am time mark. As you can see the shade is only partial. Once in the sun it is in it directly until late in the day given its west/south west exposure.
