  1. Exactly. After I cilmb yo baby i'll start cleaning "mo clips 12a" next to it. Have you (orion) been on it? Would be cool if people were able get on these routes again. I think the woods area is just a cool place in general.
  2. There is a steep ramp that goes to a ledge where you can rest before the last 20 or so feet. There is a bolt before the ramp, and the next is a couple moves away on the face above the ledge. The climbing does look easier, yes. Still would like to know that I have that section wired prior. And not to mention that the rest of the route is on the sporty side too
  3. Well, im sure it is... After sitting in my harness scrubbing for 6 straight hours, I was no longer in the mood to give it a rope solo. It looks like a lot of fun (wouldn't have cleaned otherwise). There is quite a big span between bolts 3/4 of the way up, so i'd like to TR it before leading.
  4. Just wanted to share that the route "yo baby" in the woods section at little si has been thoroughly re-cleaned, and is ready to lead once again! Yo baby is a 5.11-somethin' to the right of goldrush. apprx. 95' and 10 bolts. As of right now it is dry. After it rains I would give it 1 full day of warm weather to dry out.
  5. Just bushwacked to the top of deception crags, high above nevermind wall... in the deep and dark woods i found a tall steep crag with some high potential for new routes. On top of the wall was a HUGE cougar staring down at my friend and I. The experience was truly unbeleivable. Steep scrambling above deception crags, heavy heavy rain, daylight dissappearing, dark mossy woods with old groth trees and deadfall, steep crags jetting out... and a absolutely HUGE and powerful cougar in all it's glory. The setting for this experience was mind blowing. I wish I could transfer the image from my brain to yours. I always pictured that when I came across a cougar it would be the normal slim, athletic build, not too huge and bulky cougar you see in photos and video. But NOPE! This thing was like a damn tiger! Just a cool experience I wanted to share. .
  6. bstach, This is standard procedure when a route goes free... I don't think anyone is chest beating. just climbing hard, and sharing new info on the route.
  7. Walked up to SCW today. Lots of ticks! whew! I kept my pants tucked into my socks and this worked great. Just keep an eye on the small grass patches that are along the trail. If you dont let your boots/pants touch those areas you will probably stay tick free, as I did. Most of them are pretty sizeable and are easy to spot. Only 1 climbing group up there with a party of 14!
  8. This is my go-to pant for pretty much everything. skiing, climbing, work... http://www.google.com/#hl=en&biw=1007&bih=437&rlz=1R2ADBS_en&sa=X&ei=SkinTbuNLYfQsAP09Kn6DA&ved=0CBQQvwUoAQ&q=weather+watch+pant&spell=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=dc1465e8d98f3aed
  9. Yeah I just stopped by today also... Can't beleive the classics were dry! Get stoked for another good renton season yall!
  10. For all you Fee Demo lovers... The finest granite slab in Washington.
  11. Anyhow, just be aware that if you are up there in the morning before opening, and it has snowed 4'' or more or have had heavy rain, they will be blasting. If you guide your actions by this you should be clear. This does not freak me out by any means. Basicly stay safe, and youll stay out of trouble.
  12. It's national forest land. so wtf? Alpental's property ends at the backcountry gates. Currently, if you duck a closed gate and ski, and you get caught you will be blacklisted from riding the lift at alpental. This must now mean that if you duck a gate, end up needing rescue or get caught, you will be blacklisted and the new info above...? does that sound about right? If you did'nt start out on a chairlift I don't think you have much to worrie about.
  13. You got some mighty fine "trad" lines inn the gorge there. Although, not alpine... Eastern sky bridge ridge is my favorite. The "inhibator". ahhhhh....
  14. Cool, thanks yall. Looks like the bivy site will work.
  15. Never been before. Leaving this coming sunday... Is there any free camping or lots nearby? just need a place to park the car, sleep, and not be bothered by rangers. Theres gotta be a dirtbag spot, hopefully?
  16. Any Seattle area climbers going to smith this sun- wed? weather looks good.
  17. 1. Leave seattle area sunday night, return to seattle area by wed. evening. 4/10/11 - 4/13/11 2. Smith Rock 3. Seattle area (kent) 4. (ME) 5. I can drive but would prefer not to. My car gets around 23mpg so if you have a more efficient rig that would be choice. Additional: So i'm looking for a partner on the road and for climbing. Would like to get a number of moderate sport routes in and a particular 12a- "dreamin". I've roughly calculated fuel to cost about $85 in my car.
  18. You might be able to climb up to the original (lower) Abo anchors. I would imagine the top section is wet.
  19. Has anyone been up the middle fork within the last week? Curious about the road conditions. I would imagine there have been some slides, trees down etc... like most springs. Maybe im wrong?
  20. 2 draws. 1 Rope. (on chain anchors). and clip the hangers, not the chains if possible. Also, dont climb through chain links- make sure youre on your draws.
  21. The wall is most definetly soaked.
