  1. aren't pretty much ALL 5.12's dry when it rains? That would be nice.... unfortunetly, no.
  2. And how about the Horne Lake crags on Vancouver Island? anybody been there? I know it has very steep climbs...
  3. I hope so! when it is raining at smith are there any particular walls or routes that stay dry (up to low 12's)? If I go this weekend it'll be my first trip.
  4. Any "dry" ideas out there for the 4 day weekend? Leavenworth, NE Washington, skaha, smith, lovers leap, castle crags (CA) are all going to be wet apparently. Red rocks looks like it will be nice, but 34 hours of driving doesnt work well with a 4 day weekend
  5. Okay so I know this was recently discussed somewhere on here but I could not find the thread. Who is the other shoe cobbler besides cascade cobbler and dave page? started with an "R" I thought? Need to resole some shoes asap...
  6. The Tooth is not in any wilderness area. When the south face is gummed up with big parties (which is quite frequent IME), drop around the corner and do the SW Face. Fun climbing that's no harder than 5.5, with lots of room for variations. The N ridge is also a consolation if you aren't into the adventure of the SW or W face routes. Im surprised that didn't get mentioned earlier... people always assume the tooth is in wilderness.
  7. yep the arete is pure joy wish I had remembered to take photos of it- and the jugs at the top. next time. Glad you were able to climb such a great piece of stone with your finger injury Rad.
  8. Trip: Fee Demo wall - million dollar foot bridge Date: 5/20/2011 Trip Report: 5-20-11 After 3 days of nice weather in the MF a friend and I decided to stroll up to fee demo to check if it was dry. It was. We climbed MDFB 5.9 and it was good. Exciting climbing made even more exciting if you dont bring a couple TCU's (which I didn't). Thats some fine fine granite. So umm.... ya basicly fee demo is quality slab climbing and you should get some too Hell of a TR eh? Gear Notes: 2 60m ropes for raps, 14 draws for MDFB 5.9 (maybe more for other routes?), small gear including #1 & 2 tcu, helmet might not be a bad idea... And skateboard knee pads to slide on when you slip? just an idea. Approach Notes: MF trailhead, walk 3/4 mile, kabamm!
  9. seems a group of 6 would be a bit more respectable, eh? 4 students and 2 instructors. that party had 12, and the next person mentioned that there was also a party of 15!!! that is batshit crazy dude. how could that be enjoyable anyway for the students? people are f'n nuts man.
  10. bump. I would be interested to know if anyone gets on this. I went and climbed it the other day and encountered the fun 11d technical crux which goes from the 2nd to 4th bolt (as others have said. I was surprised to find that from the last bolt to the anchor it was even harder- way harder. The folks ive spoken to seemed to remember the top being much easier than the lower crux. It appears maybe a hold broke off up high, making it harder to reach the anchors now? I know im just rambling about some sport route maybe nobody cares about, but if you go- I wanna know what you think!
  11. I'm sorry to hear that she passed. I wasn't aware. If I may ask, was this related to the head injury? My sincere condolences.
  12. from REI: "Thank you for your email. Monika Johnson was highly regarded in the outdoor community, a member of the REI community, and a dear friend of many REI employees. Please know that we have expressed our condolences to Monika's family and extend them to you, as well. The issues addressed in any lawsuit are often complex and sometimes, as is the case here, have broad impacts beyond just the parties. REI's appeal is not about the amount of money Monika's estate should receive through either a trial or a settlement. Instead, it is about the degree to which responsibility should be shared between a private label seller, like REI, and the manufacturer who designed and made the bike component. The right to have a court or jury consider this question is important to all companies, big or small, that sell products under private labels. REI would have preferred to resolve Ms. Johnson’s case early on, but circumstances beyond our control made this impossible. As we have since REI was founded in 1938, we stand behind our products, and we are committed to acting in accordance with the co-op’s values. We have kept those values front and center throughout the defense of this case, and we will continue to do so through final resolution. Sincerely, Libby Catalinich Director, REI Corporate Communications"
  13. A hike up the middle fork trail to Goldmeyer hot springs, and camping there might make for a very pleasent and safe trip right now. (it's always nice there)
  14. LS muiras are my favorite slab shoe. They do have some sporty down turn but I feel they edge and smear like a champ. Most comforable all-day shoe for me.
  15. Im psyched to get to Skaha after watching this vid. Crappy video, but a good view of some of the steeps!
  16. Man I really need skis. Nice stuff
  17. skagit must be the tweak- capital of th NW.
  18. Looking for a fight with a meth head is a terrible idea; you will definitely lose!
  19. I have to admit, I did that once around midnight at exit 38. It was about 3 years ago. Jacked my car up, and put a block under it. Waited for 3 hours or so in the trees. Nobody came- probably a good thing (for myself and them). This was 2 days after my truck had been broken into there, and I was furious. I would not do it again. Maybe if police were involved.
  20. that might be a good option for a day outing... It would be fun to set up a sting also.
  21. Almost every time Ive been to the little si trailhead, there has been broken glass in the parking lot. A few weeks ago I arrived at 12 noon, packed lot, decent weather. I returned to the parking lot around 1:30 (just went for a hike) to find the car next to mine had lost its back window and shit stolen. In the middle of the frickin day! Definetly dont leave anything in your car at little si. Seems to be a daily occurance there.
  22. throw in a series of wet holds for both hands and feet... no problem.
  23. man ive been getting a lot of spam lately. My email got hacked a month ago, and someone sent all my contacts a email (posing as me) to come join me on this "awesome" swingers site. That was lame.
  24. Hanman- nice. Shapp, not quite sure since I havent been to the D area. If I had to guess i'd say the first 7 are spring mtn. area? with the eighth photo being SQW? I havent seen photos of SQW so it really is a guess.
