I thought most of them want the old days back because they had more of a chance for power and money under the old corrupt regime then they do under the new corrupt regime. If neo-liberals want to claim the East, well, that's yet more proof they are intellectually bankrupt

5'10" 190lbs 193cm/107mm@waist plenty of fun for powder. For spring volcano skiing shorter + lighter would be nicer, but not for winter

Barryvox Pulse - not receiving old beacon signal?
Hugh Conway replied to fern's topic in The Gear Critic
You should be able to get your beacon inspected and serviced by the manfacturer/importer for much less than replacement if you aren't into mandatory gear whoring. -
Barryvox Pulse - not receiving old beacon signal?
Hugh Conway replied to fern's topic in The Gear Critic
If the old beacon isn't transmitting in the standard frequency range anymore isn't the problem the old beacon's frequency drift? You can google "beacon frequency drift" and get reams of useless bullshit (like linked above) -
It's only OK if you are stealing from poor people PP

Hugh Conway replied to dbconlin's topic in the *freshiezone*
the Grivel 2F also works for teleboots. people've done great shit in them.... do you want to? Nows the best time of the year to buy new ski gear -

was it 07-08 that a day pass was $55 and a season pass was $1000? Far better at skiing for the powderhound then than now. Cheap seaon passes in suck....but not as much as Jacksons $2000 pass sucks
-
Why are those bad? When Mammoth upgraded Chair 9 from a slow double to a detachable 6 the number of powder runs you could get went from a dozen to a couple in that area. I'll take the slow lift and the line ....
-
Few ski areas in N. America are worth the walk up day rate - the increases in lift speed and lift density mean snow doesn't stick around long and with the exception of W/B and Revelstoke few have meaningful side country access. Ya, Crystal does, Kirkwood does, etc. but that's nothing like the Spearhead....

They grew up - but he might part with 'em anyway. Your brother is parting out his children? Weird.

Guess it's no longer climbers.... http://www.adn.com/2010/03/08/1174399/coast-guard-going-to-the-rescue.html Severe weather on Monday prevented the rescue of a weakened "extreme hiker" stranded in Tongass National Forest without food, forcing him to spend another night on a glacier, according to the Coast Guard.

Amazingly there's some pretty good rock in the 2,000 miles between Cabo San Shithole and Joshua Tree.

Only been to the Wildspitze the end of the routes I've seen. It's popular, quite popular, because it's the tallest in Tirol (now, pre 1918 was the Ortler - if it's been a really good snow year in the south check out the tours, pictures from the ski area) The other reason is the Wildspitze is easy to reach from Pitztal ski area (~2.5 hrs by memory) Cool area, can dig up some pics. Nice peaks, steep skiing to be done with the right snow, nice touring If you head to Switzerland check out this planner - add a hut and it'll give you info: http://www.sac-cas.ch/index.php?id=416&L=3

Wash. man electrocuted by urinating on power line (AP) – 1 day ago MONTESANO, Wash. — Authorities believe a Washington man was killed by accidentally urinating on a downed power line after a car crash. Grays Harbor County sheriff's Deputy Dave Pimentel (PIM'-en-tel) said Monday 50-year-old Roy Messenger was not seriously hurt after he collided with a power pole Friday and called a relative to pull his car from a ditch.
