  2. erm, darling, the taxpayers were the only, and ultimate bag holders. Everyone else was either betting they wouldn't get caught standing when the music stopped, betting on who would get caught, or betting that the taxpayer would bail everyone out when it was revealed that there weren't actually any chairs left. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised that nobody seems to be pissed at how the WAMU owners got screwed, and that the FDIC et al are so fucking scared about what they did they'll fight tooth and nail to keep from the documentation coming out.
  3. Globalstar service isn't worth SHIT at the moment, so, no, not a great piece of gear. This might chance later in the year when they replace some satellites, but who knows.

  5. I thought the natural monopoly was the beatific business state?
  6. quit worrying your pretty little head over man stuff and get back in the kitchen to cook dinner, tamara
  7. Oddly the lever change mode is one of the known failure points on the Duke
  8. No experience with them, but which trekking peak? From my experience the logistic experience is pretty similar in country, you just pay varying amounts of $
  9. Ouch. Carpenters are fucked. Flip side is some lawyers going to get rich off of the litigation
  10. Sounded like it was more Ladakh side - haven't found a good list of the actual peaks. If the Chinese start lobbing shells things could get nuclear sunburn quick.

  12. Marker AT bindings suck big fat floppy donkey dick. Dynafits tour better but aren't ideal for what you want. If you want something step in/step out Fritschi. Markers suck ass
  13. Nice link feck I bet they did not open it for a couple of days. WOW. heh. despite that it's safer skiing there than driving in Kazakhstan
  14. $43/day budget is doable, but perhaps unenjoyable allin, in this day in age. Including transport it'll be mostly crappy transport, lodging and not much booze. The worlds changed and places aren't nearly as cheap as they were. And that was before the $ went down the shitter. STILL WORTH IT! GO! GO NOW!
  15. bad move at rebranding on my part
  16. feels good to see that again
  17. Peter_Puget? Always beating the same shitty tune
  18. We can't all be as clever as you and drop some homoerotic reference I thank you for taking my obsessive posting crown away
  19. go eat some drywall the every erudite KK
  20. and what I was saying was you can stay at a hut in the mountains in the alps for $65 a day. Or less. And the 'instruction' in India is bullshit. eh, pay for beer and there's a ton of dumbcunt poms who'll "instrutct" you
  21. Why not the Alps? They are close to you, have great access, bountiful terrain, and you could gain a wealth of experience quickly. Then you can go on and climb things yourself. Wouldn't put that much stock in to any formal mountaineering in India; a 5000m peak there won't necessarily offer much of a challenge either. If you are still interested there's also: http://www.adventurehimalaya.org/aboutwhmi.asp Near Manali so is easier to get to from Delhi/major airport
  22. Hasn't it been practically impossible to find a decent place to live in Revelstoke the past couple winters? The trailertrash playground known as Golden... not so much
  23. I guess you and Fairweather do have something in common
  24. you get more disingenuous by the day. SS: government entitlement of benefits. primary investment US treasuries Privatized: lowest risk US treasuries. The former has lower risk than the latter. The latter provides plenty of opportunity for worthless Wall Street shits to profit from a government mandated program.... so they cna be pseudo-freemarket overpaird admin assistants and you won't get your tax manties in a bunch
  25. What next? Fairweather coming out of the closet?
