  1. thanks for the pics and the tr. It is nice when you change your plans for the weather and it works out.
  2. The smallest swage fitting that West Marine sells is 1/8". You want 3/32". You can get that at WW Grainger. You can order online or over the phone and they will get you the cable and fittings very quickly and for cheap. This stuff is used by model airplane hobbyists so it is quite common and available. wow... good thing I know that I am a 32nd off... I am going to re-do all my repairs now...
  3. I have fixed a couple of my cam (wild country and BD) triggers by going to West Marine (or other boating supply store) and picking up cable, swages and some stiff wire. You can make them fit any size and make of cam. Just need a pair of pliers with the small crimping notch in them. The replacement triggers have held up better then the ones from the factory.
  4. yeah, but they are saying 11 ish kn of force for the cam... when you place a nut rated at 2-4 kn that is what you figure on... not a cam rated at 11 kn failing at 5 kn. Maybe stay away from aliens for the first couple of placements, thus dropping the fall factor/force?
  5. Wow, when you look at their failure rate to the total sample size (total production) this is not good... I have a degree in mechanical engineering and this would not be acceptable for any "life support" system/item... The failed braze at 5 kn scared me... As a father of 2, I think I am getting rid of my aliens... I guess I can say I am happy I only have one set... and not offsets so I can still replace them. Here is to the Bend company...
  6. thanks for posting that Ivan. Seems like a good write up.
  7. Thanks for the trip report. Reminded me of hiking with my Dad... esp the beer and soda part. Looking fwd to taking my 4 year old out when he gets a bit older...
  8. I would go with a passport. Another nice thing is that a passport is good for 10 years.
  9. Thanks for the replacement work. I used some of those bolts on a trip to Smith this spring...
  10. I guess my comment got deleted... Well once again, thanks for the pics and the TR. It was a good way to kill some time at work and wish I was out instead of in this last weekend.
  11. I wore a cotton penis sheath, and only a cotton penis sheath. Very Red Hot Chili Peppers's of you...
  12. what is the temp rating of a tauntaun?
  13. you always have to carry a tauntaun to sleep in...
  14. and if it does rain you can always go the the Vantage gym as it is farther East...
  15. so, your kid is sleeping in the guts of a Tauntaun? Seems a bit odd... How does this end up in Cafe Sensitvioso?
  16. yep, call me a plush toy... Oh, and it would be fine if it is bolt less... BRING IT ON...
