  1. bruising the spine would result in significant neurological deficits. a bruise on the spinal cord is a very serious injury.
  2. 4 to 6 weeks is pretty standard for a fracture to heal. more complicated stuff like ankles can take a lot longer.
  3. awesome squamish goodness!

Hey! Thanks for recognizing our power and influence over your life! The weather's looking sad today so I'm afraid we'll have to hold back on our approval for you to do anything in the mountains until the weather improves. But you do have our approval to mow a couple of lawns around here and make us dinner! And when you're done with that, pope needs a shoe-shine. raindawg, i thought you were pope's bootlicker.

so you aren't a "hangdog" but rather a "hangpuppy"? or maybe a hangdog but afraid to commit?

so what is "dogging"? i thought it meant to weight the pro and then continue upward rather than lowering back to the start and beginning again. i guess weighting the pro "slightly" doesn't count as dogging but nevertheless invalidates the ascent? just trying to figure out the nuances of these so called ethics.

Possibly Southern Belle in Yosemite. Theres a great story about the FA on Supertopo if you dig it up. huber brothers did some hard routes that were bolted on lead, "vom winde verweht" and "scaramouche" -- 5.13b and 5.13c, ca 8 pitches each with 40+ ft runouts on the "easy" 5.12 pitches.

10 bolts per route = 100,000 routes. 50 states = approximately 2000 sport routes per state. let's see, there probably aren't 2000 routes in many states (i'm thinking indiana, ohio, new jersey, maryland, you get the idea). a million bolts sounds like hyperbole to me but then joseph isn't the sort of guy who would let the facts get in the way of something he wants to believe.
  10. don't know any hand specialists to recommend in seattle but think that a good starting point would be to see someone and get an actual diagnosis, especially if it still hurts too much to climb.
  11. Nice try, but self-loathing is more of a pastime for liberals. amusing how the kkkonservatives spew their venom willy nilly but are oh so very sensitive when someone gives it back to them. truth is that rush limbaugh is one of the best things going for the democrats -- he drives shitloads of voters away from the republifucks with his venomous rantings. obama et al would be wise to send the best specialists out to hawaii to prop up the old windbag a little longer. could be his key to getting re-elected.
  12. kkkonservatives are always so upset when they see libs hating on someone, but in the new millenium hating is bipartisan and not just for kkkonservatives. you need to get in step with the times, kkk.
  13. having chest pains doesn't necessarily imply he has a heart.
  14. i'm pretty sure litz was doing crossfit before his 5.14 tear at ten sleep last summer, so doubt that he gained much weight or that it held him back any. all i will say is that i've head pretty good luck with crossfit as part of my routine. it had more effect on telemark skiing and distance running than with climbing, though. overall i'd say the effect on my sport climbing hasn't been profound.
  15. Dude!!!! INTERESTING NOW YOUR JUST SUCK'N UP!!! If he really cared about anyone else he would not try to call out the cubical people. Well at least he is not a nurse or school(gym)teacher Just being a DICK go fuck yourself, shit-for-brains
  16. i think crossfit is a pretty good approach for achieving general physical fitness, which means that it can serve as a foundation that you build upon. at least that is how i use it. i think climbing is a very technique intensive activity so you have to spend a lot of time climbing to be good at it and to improve at it. the will gadd perspective was very interesting. his observation re: shoulder injuries hasn't been born out by my experience, though. i had chronic issues with my shoulders before i started crossfit a couple of years ago and since then my shoulders have been fine. better than in a long time, as a matter of fact.
  17. That's actually a fine profession, as is mine, but I consider my personal life (and yours) to be an unacceptable target of ridicule on a climbing web-site. Not only am I going to refrain from gratuitously ridiculing your job, I'm not going to make fun of your wife and children either. raindawg, i apologize if i hurt your feelings. i was just trying to have fun. i will refrain from saying anything more about your work, which i actually think is very interesting.
  18. you know you've struck a soft spot when brainfog calls you "little man". i'm an emergency room and intensive care rn. i help take care of sick and injured people. if you weren't ashamed of your work then you'd be able to get the joke.
  19. so is that your workout routine, joseph? how much time does it take you each day? just curious.
  20. pink is uncharacteristically interested in finding out the facts of the case, much to the astonishment of all who regularly visit this website.
  21. joseph, that's a pretty intense routine you've quoted from mark hudon, but it is by no means the only or necessarily even the best way to get fit for the nose in a day. training for climbing is by no means so formulaic primarily because there hasn't been a lot of scientific study of it. mostly what you find is reports like hudon's: "i did this and achieved that as a result" -- a sample of one with no control whatsoever. i strongly suspect mark hasn't tried a number of times to do the nose in a day and failed, then only succeeded when he instituted the workout regimen you quote; if he had, then there would be some reason to think that this workout (rather than any other workout -- such as crossfit --that boosted overall fitness) was an essential ingredient. i think one key thing is to achieve a high degree of overall physical fitness and there are many roads that will take you to that end.

  23. as a matter of good taste, atreides, you shouldn't be allowed to solo naked. no one wants to see that...
