Yeah geez Paul thats what you get for living in the palm springs of washington.
-
hmm...maybe i misunderstood you...nevermind.

I called the ranger station last weekend, and she said there were at least one big avalanche blocking the road and some slide at the 'china' area...i wasn't really able to understand the china part.

I've never understood pink-pointing a trad climb, doesn't that seem contradictory to anyone else? Sure it could be a weird spot to place gear - but isn't that the essence of trad climbing? I only say this because earlier you referred to pink-pointing as cliping preplaced draws/gear.
-
I think flash means you climbed it on your first try, but you could have recieved information about the climb.

I like what I read so far. Coming from a competitive running background I like reading and discussing stuff like this. Thanks.

I would hope that I could join that group when I try to climb some new cracks there. Rob, I agree with you, I haven't really "climbed" the climb until I've led it - regardless of sport or trad. Anyway, interesting opinions. I have another question, what do people think of anchors/bolts on top of a trad vs walk off? Walk off is kind of weird...Obviously there is both at both tieton and vantage.

oh nice, must have overlooked that one when they others said sold out. thanks!

sadly they are all sold out

Yeah...its not a sport climb like you eluded to earlier. I would say its different than a mountain because people put time and money (bear with me here) into cleaning the route and put in bolts and hangers (thats where the money came from). I've never done anything in the realm of route/crag development, hence me being unsure about this. With that being said, unless the hangers were stolen, the first ascentionist didn't follow coulee ethics, in establish the route ground up...whatever if it wasn't for organic chemistry I would climbing rather than spraying. EDIT: Matt, I didn't see your post being I wrote mine. I agree with your final statement. However there lies the problem is exactly how long its been unclimbed or if it has been climbed. I wouldn't really know how to contact. Because it seemed Yoder/Ford didn't know either - because when they listed other projects they put who was working on it.

Wayne did it too. However they were done during summer months if I remember correctly - like July? Search for Stuart Traverse.
-
Hard to say...I didn't see any but the chalk was light so I wouldn't really use that as a determining factor...
-
I tried searching for this...but most results were arguments about bolting ethics...This could be a useless thread but oh well. Curious to hear what others say. There is this fun looking crack at a lower wall at Vantage, there are bolts but no hangers at the top and evidence of chalk on the route. In the new guidebook it says project...The route has been like this for at least 2 years from when I first saw it. I know there are 'ethics' about letting the person who developed it get a first ascent (who knows maybe it already has and they decided not to put hangers on the already drilled bolts)...I want to go try and climb it anyway, does it any of it really matter?

I'd agree with Doug...from my limited time it seems theres too much political bullshit to actually have that work. Just pick the one you want to donate to and give to them To be sure, wait for Paul (sobo) to chime in. he knows everything

I'm using this in my project about avandia

we didn't have a tick problem, but we were heavily clothed due to the wind and rain. -

I climbed there saturday. There were two other parties. You can climb all but one of the climbs...and couple cracks are wet in like the first 6 feet but you can climb through it. -
