Thanks, Matt. My modeling career is now over. -
Thanks for the link, bruddah!

I don't know about Bigfoot being a biological possibility, but Stinkfoot is a definite biological reality.

Haven't received the PM yet.

FS: Sierra Dsgns Clip Flashlight 2 per tent $75

There is one minor (repaired) tear at the base of the vestibule flap close to ground level; the one place a tear would matter the least. Otherwise the tent is in good shape, and not heavily UV damaged or anything. -
Sorry, I don't know the difference. Does Riva II have the step in crampon style clamp, while Riva I has the side swinging clamp? If so, prefer Riva II, but I'll take either as a replacement cable.

Glacier peak, Kennedy Ridge: 22 miles RT in boots a pair of Assholeohs that were too small. No summit.

I knew it. We're losing the War on Nature.

Going up to a friend's cabin at Snoqualmie tomorrow to experiment with some hallucinogenic molds I've been cultivating in my crisper. My wife will be on hand with a portable defibrillator and a paper grocery bag in case of hyperventilation. Then it's off to a BBQ in Tacoma sunday afternoon at my wife's friend's house; a chronic depressive who self published an vitriolic, loosely autobiographical novel about childhood abuse. Strangely, her anger at men does not seem to apply to me, despite my almost olympian ability to piss women off. It might have something to do with the fact that I enjoy her sour but genuine company. Sunday, it's off to Darrington with an undisclosed CCer to measure galvanic microcurrents in local granitic plutons for possible use as a sending power source.

I had a bladder explode all over my backside during an adventure race once. Of course, I landed on dead on top of it (in a fanny pack) after a Charlie Brown style backflip on roller blades. It acted like an air bag, but with, you know, water in it, and probably literally saved my ass. All seriousness aside, I've been using Gregory bladders and I like the positive screw top and durability.

Rounding out the rack: 2 x #2 Knifeblades, tricams (0.5 and 1.0 pink & red), smaller sized ballnuts, BD Microstopper (not the reg. size) #3.

Would you lead on #10 Romex or twin #12 Romex? -

I can't think of a mechanism by which an elastomeric washer would degrade a bolt placement. It would increase the bending moment by the thickness of the washer when placed under the hanger, but that's about it. -
My first climb with the Mounties went something like this: We all met at the Everett PUD after work, then packed into a single station wagon for an intermittable drive to Liberty Mtn (oh, you haven't heard of it?). At about mile post 1000 on the logging road, we passed a teen couple that were living large out of a mud spattered '64 Plymouth Valiant. A middle aged woman in our party saw fit to ask them 'do your parents know you're up here?', to which they replied with couple of shit eating, we're-just-the-kid-next-door affirmatives. As we set up camp next to a slash pile, it began to rain. The inquisitive woman, now sporting a pink jogging suit, went out, well, for a jog; one of those hyper active, mini bunny hop jogs one performs during those last few desperate steps to the john immediately following a hangover morning's first Draino-strength cup of coffee. Her regimen was over as quickly as it began; just long enough to warrant an entry in her jazzercize journal. I gazed up at our objective; 2000' feet of tertiary forest bushwhacking, commencing with a valley descent and creek crossing, and ending with perhaps 100' of mossy, shitty rock. Pure dread. Then I gazed at my fellow alpine warriors. The last time I felt this disconnected with my own species was as a four year old living in naval housing; the day I discovered that my newfound playmate had a penchance for playing with his own feces. Fortunately, pouring rain quashed our daring plan. After that, I made it a point to get to know some of the climb leaders before signing on.

Hanman + other friends of Darrington are to be commended for some truly fine work in an amazing area. Where else can you climb pitch after pitch of perfect granite with alpine views in complete solitude less than 2 hours from a major city? -
I'm looking for replacement cables for Riva tely bindings. If you've got some in an old shoe box somewhere, drop me a PM.

You're off topic again. You implied that the Patriot Act did not come into play here. I corrected you.

"The communiqués are powerful, powerful evidence that the defendants and Mr. Meyerhoff intended to influence the conduct of government," said Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Engdall. "It is our position that the terrorism enhancement clearly applies to Mr. Meyerhoff." STFU, nOOb.

USA PATRIOT ACT, Section 802: `(5) the term `domestic terrorism' means activities that-- `(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State; `(B) appear to be intended-- `(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; `(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or `(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and `© occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.'.

As far as anything touched by the guiding hand of the Bush administration is concerned, if there's a question of incompetence verses successful conspiracy, I'll take door # 1 every time. Put it this way: if you were hiring someone to manage a big, important project, and you had a choice between two candidates: GW and OBL....

This tent is previous model of the current one, described here: Clip Flashlight Weight is the same as on the website. The differences are: 1) the fly color is blue and 2) the inner tent is all ripstop nylon with a mosquito netting door and rear vent. This tent design has been around forever has become a standard for affordable, bombproof, and lightweight 2 person backcountry shelter. The built in vestibule is large enough to cook under.

3 - 4 Season convertible tent for Cascade summers?
tvashtarkatena replied to jared_j's topic in Newbies
Overkill. It would be rare to deal with heavy snow loads (which would be forecasted) in peak (summer) season on a volcano. High winds can happen, but there are a number a lighter tents, including 2 pole hoop designs, that will take those winds. You also always have the option of digging in if conditions kick up. Checking the weather forecast is probably a better strategy than lugging around a tent designed to take a direct nuclear strike. For $150 more you'll get a tent that is more durable than the Omega, has a full vestibule, and weighs half as much. Your choice. -
Yeah, but we're better shots.
