You'd better hurry! The masses can't wait to get on the MONSTER! Go Plaid, GO!

I love my small dishwasher detergent box (from Costco) for my back country pantry. It won't keep the bears out of your food, but you can keep the small critters & snafflehounds at bay, as well and not crush you cookies en-route. It fits perfectly in my pack and has a handle if I want to hang it out of bears reach.

Andrew, thanks for yet another totally illuminating post which pretty much cuts right to the heart of the spirit involved with you guys and how you think and operate. I'm an ambassador for no one but myself but after sixteen years of it I just have low tolerance for relentless bullshit these days, especially after one low slander after another. But do please keep posting up more keen insights from Colorado that show just how petty and low you guys are willing to sink to. A typical Beacon opening, c'est la vie. Anyone else? Feel free as I'm clearly the one who's responsible for the rock closing every year... you are very welcome mister and tell me just how i have slandered you? Have you ever re-read your own posts in this regard? Just sayin...

Without reading the whole thread, I'll throw in my 2 cents... I like the hexes w the wires on them (BD?) for the smaller sizes so you can use the wire to "slot"/place them. If it's bigger than my hand, I prefer slings on the hexes. They are also great if you ever have to bail. (Not than I've ever done that...)

Technically, you are supposed to register for a "bivy" but night climbing is ok. I suggest you go introduce yourself to the rangers and let them know you may be out past dark. Then, leave a note on your car to let the rangers know you are out there. Otherwise, they will assume the worse and wonder where you are. I've gotten mixed advice from the rangers in regard to parking overnight... One ranger told me it was ok to park overnight with a Discovery Pass. Another ranger left me a warning and told me to contact them when they found my car there early in the morning last summer. When I told her the Discover Pass covered the overnight parking fee, I was told it does not. Sure seems like a double dip if you are already paying for parking with the Discovery Pass... why would you need to pay an additional over night parking fee? Anywho, the best bet is to keep the rangers in the loop or park outside the park so as not to be on their radar.

Thought I would bump this thread up to give props to Garmont ... I have dealt with them twice in the past 6 months. The first was for a defective heart rate monitor strap. They sent me a replacement and it showed up a day later. I sent them an e-mail yesterday to see if the trail runners I bought a few months ago were warrantied. They told me they no longer carried that line, but hooked me up with a much nicer pair of approach shoes. I offered to pay the difference in price but they just called it even. In both cases, they were very fast and accommodating. I will be buying more of their gear from now on. Dave -
It doubles as a waffle maker, too!

I think I saw them by the Tauntaun corral. tauntauns are aid As are windshirts.

No way. I'm gonna warm up on something easy like Stone Rodeo to Diagonal Desperation, then a quick traverse over to Jensen's Ridge.
