  1. yeah, I took 2 huge boxes of diapers back to costco and had a shit-eat'n grin as they gave me $80 or whatever it was. I do know that for us, the second child is much easier to deal with in many ways. I fully credit that to the better parenting habits of both myself and my wife. I'm sure they both have plenty of unique differences about personality and behaviors but coddling and giving into a kids every demand (like my wife tended to do with our 1st child) is not helping the child in the long run. Sure, kids need plenty of love, reassurance and support but they also need to learn to entertain and calm themselves down too (IMHO).
  2. Our first one took much longer than the second to get to sleep all night. It is best for everyone if you just let em scream it out for a day or two when they are young so they learn to sleep alone and be more independent. Once you let them cry it out, it will only take a day or three and they will sleep all night long, for the most part anyway. Even now, putting our oldest (almost 5) to bed is a much more complicated theatrical procedure but the youngest (just turned 3) is so easy. She is half asleep before I even tuck her in, all because we trained her early by letting her go to sleep on her own. Good luck with the next one... We just gradumanatd out of diapers a few months ago - WOW! When we decided to have kids, nobody ever told me that potty training was going to be the most exciting thing in our future. Monumental step of progress for our clan. Now what?
  3. And if she really looked only half that good in a bikini she may have won the primary...
  4. From this we may gather that you aren't just some "punk kid with a drill". So what are ya? Some old fart with a drill? Does that make you better? No matter how old you are, you should consider top roping, or if you must drill, get it done on the lead. That's how you distinguish yourself from just another "punk kid with a drill". So is this the first angry "know it all" post thing original dude was talkin about? Coming up: the inevitable clowns, dwarfs....then later .....Nazis......in 3.......2.........1........... Where's RD when you need him?

    Real change:

Sure glad I didn't drop $600 for one about a year ago that is now essentially obsolete. I like my T-Mobile and don't want to switch so I'm not gonna jump on the bandwagon.

    Two ropes?

IMO, belaying with 2 ropes does take some getting used to but is worth it in many cases, mostly for longer wandering multi-pitch routes. Not only for the extra rope security but also to reduce rope drag on wandering routes.
  7. There is also a new law out in Washington to help protect "Distressed Homeowners" that goes into effect on June 12th (HB 2791). Some of these "investors" are really scam artist who convince unsuspecting desperate homeowners to basically give away any equity the seller may have left in the home. Usually, they accomplish this by having the seller sign off on a quit claim deed which relinquished all interest in the home to whomever is the on the receiving end of the transaction. Most of the time, they are legitimate investors looking to give a low ball offer and make some quick equity and capitalize on the weak housing market. Here is info Distressed Homonwner Law Info Linky with more details about the new law. If it was me, I'd be extremely cautious when entering negotiations with one of these investors and unless you are an expert in real estate transaction, be sure to consult a real estate attorney. It would be well worth the few hundred dollars to make sure the deal is legit.

If I got an intern, then I would be posting from home. ...or the Benton County Justice Center (depending upon her age, of course). Aren't you married? "No - but my wife is" was a favorite quote from a guy I knew back in the day. He was a deputy chief of police in Las Vegas and got me off the hook on a few traffic tickets, what a guy!

  12. Sweet! Nice pics too. Man, I've missed you Couloir. OK, I really missed your avitar's. Good job sticking it out.
  13. I remember those accidents in 98. I was on Mt. Silverthrown, just east of Denali and we heard about it when we got back from our trip. Sorry to hear about your friend. I am still in awe of Alex Lowe's effort up that high. I had enough trouble stuffing my sleeping bag in the pack, let alone carrying another person at that altitude. Wasn't that also one of the highest helicopter rescues in North America ever too? I remember my parents being really worried it was our team that was being rescued, even though we were on a different nearby peak.
  14. Wow, sure has melted out since I was up there on May 17th. We skinned up almost the entire route, less the last few hundred feet that we boot packed. Have fun.
  15. I know many of us here on the west end are counting the days till Beacon opens up... closed for the same reason. Oh well, I guess we deal with it and clip bolts in the off season.
  16. It would be funnier if McCain were Asian.

  19. Hell why do people do a lot of things? Cause we can. All it is another form of body modification, which manifests itself in many ways from simple stuff from hair styles, wearing make-up, earings, whatever to more extreme things like this. I say go for it if not really hurting others. I don't particularly like titties that big, but I do find them interesting in freakish way. ken, i totally get that and i don't really care that someone does it. i come from a much more practical stand point. obviously, you're not a chick and haven't had to deal w/the hassles of a) finding a bra that really fits, b)a sore back c)clothes that fit, d)messing w/your golf swing. seriously, those things just get in the way of life. not to mention the unsightly scars Most importantly, she can now do amazing feats of strength like crushing beer cans with one smash of the boob. How did she make it this far in life before that was possible?
  20. Last post I saw from him, he was on his way to Alaska.
  21. Better yet, just call in a full blown rescue with the cell phone. After all, it's free, right? Good idea, I'll have to try it.
  22. Is that considered a "huge" fall? Very impressive "huge" rescue effort.
