Yep, insane windy today, even a bit of rain. Good times. Larry got blown about 30 ft sideways on rap, fun stuff.
-
It is wet because it has water running down it... About a 2 foot wide drizzle on most of the route. At least it did yesterday, I doubt it's dried up today. Not sure if I'm up to leading that anyway. I'd much rather climb something that I won't have to pull on any gear but ya gotta do whacha gotta do.
-
But I already have one of those. Don't you?
-
since you were already in the n-hood, go do blood, sweat n' smears or, since you're willing to pull on gear, jensens! BS&S is way to wet. I've only been on it one time before and that was a few years ago. Sure looks nice though. Pretty windy out here today so we may do something easier. However, Blownout might be kind of sheltered from the wind...
-
Yeah, RR was fun, I even got the clean on-sight. The gear is a bit runout though. I thought it was like 5.9+ R but what do I know? FC felt more like a slip n slide and a bit like Steppenwolf in spots. You'd been proud of my gear pulling prowess on that pitch... Hoping to get out w/Geoff tomorrow if it is still dry, any suggestions for us mere mortals?

watcha do white boy? Warmed up on Suf. Breathless, then I finally got on Reasonable Richard and Flying Circus. The latter (FC) kicked my ass but it was also really wet, muddy and a total lichen fest. Nice climbs though. I thought RR was better than it looked from the ground, although it was still a bit dirty.

Yeah, Bill too much time on your hands. That's some funny shite though. Put yer nut tool to good use at Beacon today Ivan, thanks. I need a metal detector to find mine after it fell off my harness on Dod's last week. We had the whole place to ourselves. Great day!

I just rely on the chalk arrows, maybe someone can paint them in neon orange next time so I won't get lost after it rains? -
That sounds like you are describing the climbs you did. "Yeah, I totally onsighted Crushed To Death, but I warmed up first on Smeared with Feces and just moved over from the belay ledge. You gotta try that link up, it's an awesome way to go" Those are the great new routes someone bolted after the big loose rock was blasted out of there, just right of the arena of terror. Bolted like every 10", so it's kind of sketchy run out though.
-
I'd bet that loose rock has a nice surprise under it as the person who did it before us forgot to stop at potty ledge and decided to take a dump right on route. Then, just covered it up with a loose belay slayer 25lb rock. Come on, if you can't stop over at potty ledge, at least get off the route a few feet. Bad enough to die/be crippled from a rock like that but also be smeared with crap is just to much.
-
Don't worry, "someone" will clean it up... and it's potty ledge, not tree ledge.

ME, ME, ME... I do, I do. In fact, I was just looking around on the internet the other day about how to go about getting into the wind farm field. As I understand it, there are some college courses/certificates that can be done first and then the wind farms are hiring upon completion of the certification. I just started looking into it so if you have any other useful info on the subject I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Dave

awesome - been wondering were in the hell it had gone - how did joe get it? you looked might cold waiting down there to start up free for all dave! you gotta talk nate into dragging your ass up this climb man - very cool setting and novel views - you just need an army of coolies to scrub the hamburger sized lichens out Not sure how Joe got your tool but till I will be sure to take good care of it till we meet up again. I'm guessing I was not nearly as cold as your gluten for punishment, bring on the suffer-fest, ass up there on the windiest spot possible. Glad I wore the shell though. How's yer poison oak shaping up? -

Ivan, I've got your nut tool... For some reason, JH thought I'd see you first so he gave it to me. Let me know when your headed out this way again. If nothing else, you can swing by my place and grab it. Meanwhile, I'll be making sure it stays loved and used, as I seemed to have dropped mine on Dod's. Nate tells me it came off when I was doing to 2nd pitch but I was unaware. -
When I was about 3 or 4 years old I remember watching a documentary about guys climbing El Cap and I vividly remember thinking "that's what I want to do when I grow up". I did not actually do any technically climbing till I was about 18 though. I had a similar experience to Sobo... after nearly killing myself on what was probably 5.5-5.6 in hiking boots, I decided to take a class on rock climbing right after that.

I'm not trying to be picky, but shouldn't your thread title be "Bad Day at the Orifice"? Let's give him a hand...

Not sure if I can get out that early on Sat Ivan, I was thinking around 9 or 10 so the wife can go for a run or bike ride before I go climbing. Not sure if I'm up to the upper pitch on Menopause but am up for something in the 5.10 range Joseph. I'm hoping to have a better idea of a start time by Friday evening. Weather looks promising.

Can't you just drop those used baseballs off at goodwill or some little league team? -
Need to kill some time? Tired of all the worthless drivel here in spray? Maybe you need a dose of Butwiper's "Real Men of Genius" to keep your spirits up? Real Men of Genius Linky "Mr. Cargo Pants Designer ... is that a banana in your pocket?" "there IS no better ad campaign in history than Bud Light's "Real Men of Genius" (formerly known as "Real American Heroes") radio ads. They are pure brilliance!" ...
