  4. Great explanation here of why BD doesn't use extendable slings. In a nutshell they found it fails at lower loads and may mangle the thumb loop on big whippers.

  8. The truth is most mountain gear is sold to middle class posers who wear it to cross the street from Macy's to JC Penny. Remember to thank them for creating an economy of scale that allows you to purchase cheap gear.

    Virus that learns

I thought this thread was going to be about TTK.
  14. I'm looking for ideas for my 6 year old's science fair project. Thanks for the idea...this should get him an 'A+' If he's the payload, you'll all be famous. Perhaps we will do the space suit this year and the rocket next

  16. If I scope every hold on my climb with a camera mounted on a RC chopper, and then send it, is it still considered "onsite"? Perhaps the legislature is trying to head off this controversy before it lights up the interwebs. PS Some great footage in the OP, makes me want to go out and buy one of those. (still legal in Canada as far as I know)

  18. "Researchers also discovered a hidden benefit to sitting in economy class: The textile seat covers absorb up to half a fart's smell; first-class leather seats offer no such advantage"
  19. Perhaps your google-fu is better than mine.
  20. I had this anecdotal discussion with a colleague of mine recently and its got me very curious. I am interested in getting data on monthly hours of bright sunshine in Vancouver from 1988 to 2013. I know there is someone who posts here that works for environment canada...is this the sort of data that EC could provide?
  21. I just pulled these old Fritschi bindings down from the attic. Probably 15+ years old (not 100% sure, i bought them used). Appear in good shape. Would you ski 'em?
  22. Can you tell me when i should start buying guns and stockpiling food?

I think it would really suck to work in the Java group at Oracle right about now, they are getting slammed hard in the media over their latest security debacle: Java suck
  24. I saw a documentary earlier this week about sexual assault of women in the military. They estimate it is as high as 50%. And it has been systematically covered up for decades. Does this mean they are also addressing that issue?
  25. Shock and "awwwwe did you see the rack on the chick with the M-16?!"
