  6. Jeff Smoot's "Rock Climbing Washington" book has about 20 pages of Tieton routes.
  7. Today I baked a strawberry rhubarb crisp, then made a batch of carrot soup. This weather is messing up my culinary calendar. Happy Junuary!
  8. I tried the SP for the first time this week...suprisingly, it's bulky profile went completely unnoticed while I was climbing. I thought it would feel "clunky" and in the way, but it didn't. The feed was so smooth that it was easy to focus on the climbing, never felt like I was playing tug of war with the rope; I used the backpack technique(thanks JosephH), which probably had a lot to do with the smooth feed. So far, I give it a You want to have your ducks in a row with your anchor-building skills with these things. Even though I consider myself safe and solid with anchors in general, I realized building a multi-directional anchor I'd trust to hold a solo lead fall put some different stakes on the game.
  9. Mine's planted on a futon . Clearly, my life sucks more than yours.
  10. I'm taking you on my next climbing trip.
  11. Was that on the 2nd p of Rogers? Nice to see the sun shining out there. Sure isn't at the moment.

  16. No, it just makes them mad.
  17. Maybe you need to do more frequent tick checks.
  18. Ummm, I think I need to meet your knitting guru. That 8D technique wasn't demonstrated in my instruction book. Sounds like the 70 dollars was well spent. Thanks for the "floppy hat" perspective. That's a great way to look at it! I'm all for artistic interpretation. I bet your sweater designs will rock.
  19. And it isn't much cheaper than driving. I attempted knitting this winter and nearly dropped my needles at the yarn-store cash register when I saw that it would costly me nearly twice as much to BUY the yarn to KNIT the damn hat as it would if I just bought a hat that WAS ALREADY MADE. WTH? To top it off, the hat came out bigger than the size of a normal human being's head. Guess that takes care of this year's white elephant gift at the Solstice party.
  20. Hey Wisenheimer...you missed the point. YOU ACT LIKE YOU MISS THEM!!! I think the title of his thread speaks to the contrary.
  21. That's a good question, and I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who has it dialed. I've fiddled around w/several variations, trying get the set-up as simple and safe as possible. I end up w/something that looks pretty similar to what Petzl pictures on their Chest Harness Manual . Basically, a locker through the belay loop, attached to a short sling which is attached to quicklink on chest harness, then to another locker which attaches the device. This keeps the device running higher up than what seems natural--we're used to being secured at the waist-- but it makes for a nice "top-rope" type catch. Girth hitching to the belay loop seems like it would expose you to unnecessary fabric-to-fabric friction and wear, which would make me a little leary of going that route. I run my backup prussik off a locker that's through the two harness hardpoints. Keeps it out of the way and also seems to "backup" the belay loop set up by using a different point of attachment.
  22. But I'm tired of pulling weeds and mowing. I want to climb dammit! Glad you enjoyed a nice time out there, though. Still selling your rack?
  23. Most people get it by eating the cake. Less bruises that way. Happy Birthday!!!

    1 sandal

Any connection to the severed feet bobbing around Vancouver? To Archie breaking her foot? Was it a right or left-footed sandal? That could be a clue.
