So Couloir when we're all done with the cc.com weight loss thingy, maybe we should have a potluck dinner and you could bring your fried chicken! Sounds yummy. That sounds like a grand idea! In the meantime however, and with deference to our good friend The Rooster, I'm afraid, folks will need to PM me for the recipe.

Umm, I doubt that!!!! A few years back when I was Seattle at Bumbershoot, I ended up at a party with mainly younger people there. They were doing beer bongs, being out of practice (10 years since I done one) I stepped and did a head to head beer bong races. They were damn slow. I could have done two or three in the time it took those kids to do one. I did put it on my list because it is not something I strive to be good at, I just am. I agree, kids these days. They have no clue. The key is to open up your gullet, and forget swallowing. Let gravity do the rest. I used to be MUCH better at it, but I think I can still hold my own. When you get back from Africa, we'll have fun at the next Pub Club.

There's is a very distinctive cattle path from the Hogsback left and up thru the Old Chute. You can't miss it. Or take the other distinctive path thru the PG. Although with the schrund being pretty open now and the warm temperatures, I would avoid it. You can make the call when you get there.

I can drink a pint of beer faster than anyone. I'm very organized and tidy. But not in a cumpulsive annoying way. I make a fried chicken that is out of this world. Maybe someday I'll post the recipe. (No offense Rooster)

What town are you in? I need a hole in my roof fixed. I don't need a new roof, just the hole fixed. A sheet of plywood and feather in some new composite shingles as best as you can.

[TR] Mt. Jefferson - Jefferson Park Glacier 6/27/2007
Couloir replied to Mountain_Shots's topic in Oregon Cascades
Well done fellas. -
This is a very good DVD. Great climbing scenes with an awesome soundtrack. I got a personal email from them telling me it had shipped, and the packaging that it came in suggests a pretty small operation. So, I guess I can justify the expense if it goes to helping these guys grow their business and make more cool movies. I recommend it.

Poison Ivy/Oak? in Wash Pass and/or Leavenworth?
Couloir replied to MountaingirlBC's topic in Climber's Board
Cherry. I'm curious. Did they get worse from scratching them, or did they get this bad on their own? I saw a story on the news the other night that said poison oak/ivy will continue to get worse in the coming years. The reason? Yep, global warming! -

Back in HS when this song was popular, I dated a gal that cried every time it played on the radio. I thought it was cute at first. Then, not so much. So, I ended it. Ran into her almost 20 years later and she was twice divorced, close to 100 lbs. overweight and seemed to have a jaded outlook on life.

[TR] Mt. Adams - North Ridge 6/25/2007
Couloir replied to Ptown_Climber1's topic in Southern WA Cascades
Great TR! Yep, whenever it seems impassable, go to your right and it'll open up for you. "Patron tequila" -
While we're on the topic, I used to carry a bottle of wine with me for the bivy. Sometimes a pint of tequila or good scotch, but usually wine. Now they have these 1 litre collapsable "boxes" that have more wine in them than a standard 750 ml bottle and you don't have to carry out a heavy glass container.

I agree with Ken on this as far as a cooling strategy. Even on hot days, I have left a sixer of Mirror Pond in a hollowed-out downed tree and it's almost perfect. If there is absolutely no way of doing this, and you had to drink something warm, I say stick to an IPA.

We were up there today. Shitty conditions for sure. We actually leap-frogged with this group throughout the morning. We ran into them again at the Hogsback and we asked them what happened to their other partner and they said "we left him down below because he wasn't feeling good." I wondered to myself, where they could have left him in this weather and still make sure he was safe. We saw them again heading up WCR and chatted briefly. They were a friendly couple and from what I could tell the guide seemed like he knew what he was doing and had things under control. I still kept wondering about their other partner. When we reached the parking lot the guide asked us if we had seen their partner anywhere on the descent. He said he wasn't where they left him and that he was concerned that he was still up on the mountain. I thought for sure this was the beginning of something bad. Well, it turned out that he made it back to the car (as billbob mentioned) and was waiting in the lodge. FTR, I don't know the guide. But from what I could tell he had everything handled and seemed very capable. Interestingly, the only thing I had an issue with was what he did with his client. Seemed like a bizzare decision and a poor choice for sure.
