I find that a lot of the women who are quick to talk about the dangers of "stalkers" or ... "creepy" guys ... seem to fall in one of three categories: 1) They have personally been stalked (or worse) by a creepy guy, and it was a scary, traumatic experience, OR... 2) They're rather fat and/or ugly, and secretly wish that once, just for once, someone would actually stalk them, OR... 3) They enjoy watching a nice, sensitive guy squirm in his seat and rush to reassure the rest of the room that he would NEVER do anything to harm a woman or make her feel uncomfortable ... I've watched this exact kind of scenario unfold on more than one occasion.

people, in general, wear too many advertisements... and road bikers in particular. I can't believe those jerseys that advertise Subway... AND Gatorade ... AND Clif Bar ... AND United Airlines... AND about four other things. all on one garment. blech. WTF?!?? i mean if you're actually sponsored, it's one thing, but c'mon people, WAKE UP!!!!! ... paying someone ELSE for the right to advertise their shit on your hat or shirt or whatever just does not make sense. well... ... i s'pose every rule has it's exceptions. mine few would be: Fish Tail Ales Sierra Nevada Ales Led Zeppelin Tool Adidas but that's only on t-shirts and hats. mtn bikers are too cool to wear logo-jerseys.

when I was ten, me and my family took an overnight boat from Rjeka to Dubrovnik, which was way cool. Remember playing D&D with my bro while trying not to get distracted by all amazing scenery. Dubrovnik was fun, too. Great seafood, great people, great city all around. I hear it's changed a lot since the war tho. Spent a few days there, including some fun swims and exploring on the rocky beaches, including, if I recall, some cool little caves. have fun.

Muller is near the west end of Lake Crescent. you can read about it on (I think) both www.dirtworld.com and www.mtbr.com; i've never done it, but I think it's roughly a 3000' climb ... not too technical, except for a couple places where you ride a real narrow ridge. and BTW, the cool/true term for riding them man-made obstacles is "freeriding". I suspect that Muller doesn't have any of that tho. I'll do some of that stuff sometimes, but nothing higher than like 2:1 height-to-width ratio. noway. yeah do you know about www.bbtc.org? watch the ride calendar ... I'll be posting/organizing this Mt. Muller ride. Or I'm not sure... might do Dungeness River instead. something up that ways, mid-June.

some recent theories/studies have linked insomnia to AADD (adult attention deficit disorder). if you think that could be the case, might be good to go to the doc, get the AADD test, and get the meds if appropriate. I don't have the insomnia, but i do sometimes wonder if i have AADD... been sorta meaning to get the test done. there's probably even some free, simple test available online for it, to see if it's even worth going to the doc for it.... but I can't seem to focus enough to go search for it.

I've always liked the picture on page 25 of the Mounties' Climber's Guide to the Olympic Mountains. It shows what appear to be a coupla ladies standing next to the Blue Glacier. Caption just says "The Blue Glacier -- a long time ago." You can't see them that well, but from their silhouettes they look vaguely like flappers. anyone ever find themselves yelling at their radio? I did yesterday. well not quite yelling, but close to it. was listening to NPR's coverage of the death when they said something to the effect of: "... and it's been an issue that millions upon millions of Americans have been keenly aware of ..." and I suddenly found myself saying... "Well that's because YOU, just like EVERY OTHER FUCKIN media outlet in the whole goddam country, can't stop talking about it! Jezus Christ people isn't there anything more important to talk about?!?! " etc. then, they started talking about the teddy bear she was holding when she died, and I had to change the channel. even Ricker on KISW had more meaningful shit to talk about yesterday afternoon than NPR.
