  1. Nice shot!!!
  2. Wonder why no one brought up the whole 'freedom of expression' arguement. Certainly adults are free to express themselves even in the presense of the precious little innocents.
  3. Yup. Just like the fact that God created man in his present form.
  4. Lori can go topless b/c she has no tits.
  5. All your bases are belong to me.
  6. Morality refers to the concept of human ethics which pertains to matters of good and evil used within three contexts: individual conscience; systems of principles and judgments — sometimes called moral values —shared within a cultural, religious, secular, Humanist, or philosophical community; and codes of behavior or conduct. Personal morality defines and distinguishes among right and wrong intentions, motivations or actions, as these have been learned, engendered, or otherwise developed within each individual. I don't understand how anyone could think that thier own morals, or the cultural mores they live under, could be construed as neutral in any way. Baffling.
  7. Do you think the size 9 boots are his? Or worse yet, Angela's?
  8. I'll be sure to devote more time and care to everything you write before I dare post. Forgive my egregarious oversight.
  9. The difference these days is that the code word "moral values", as used in public political speech, has come to mean the prayer in schools, pro-life, anti-gay agenda embraced by the religious right. It is a philosophy that strongly believes in the government legislating what goes on in the bedroom, how to parent children, and how individuals should behave in private. In essence, it is public policy based on fundamentalist christianity. Needless to say, those of us who are not christian, and who still hold the constitution in high regard, object to this agenda, and to the hijacking of the word "moral" in public discourse. Hey hey, ever regular old run of the mill Christians don't necessarily appreciate the "Religious Right" BS either. Don't lump together everyone who lables themselves as Christian.
  10. Ann Coulter is a dumb cunt.
  11. Single pitch trad climbs are no dummmer than single pitch ice climbs.
  12. I was just about to post that!!! Stop reading my mind.
  13. Yes, I think that was the year we lost our bridge to Skyko 4. The first thing I did Sunday morning was walk out to see if was still there or not (I thought that was maybe the sound I heard Sat night). Freaky.
  14. I don't think it was one weather front hitting another (the only thing I could think of that would cause one protracted rumble) because it was already raining so hard for days. I am not a weather expert (and I'd like to hear from some about this) but I didn't think that it was possible to just have a single thunder episode like that in the middle of a storm. It was very strange. Any thoughts?
  15. This is what I did for my new drive, but I still have issues with that computer. But I agree that it is the easiest way to move crap over.
  16. It is obviously the wife's fault.
  17. The Sky was frighteningly high and fast this weekend. Was anyone out that way? I am wondering if anyone else heard the very, very strange thunderous rumble Sat night at midnight. I thought it might be an avalanche--there was a very long, loud rumble--but only one. It didn't seem like that could be thunder, could it?
  18. I'm packing a King James, and it's my unalienable right to do so! It's also your inalienable right to pack a Webster's.
  19. Did they used to do that? Crazy. I understand they don't really do that, but that's just more reason why that should not be included in something they ask people to sign. I am surprised by how often I have to repeat that a background check is not a problem. Agreeing that I won't take action against a company that misuses my information is what I find unacceptable. If the form is not legally binding, then why require it? And why put people in an ethical bind by asking them to agree to something via a signature when they don't agree with the statement? Doesn't that seem wrong?
  20. Yes, I have had to get a full FBI background check for the airport. But this is different. My issue is the company expecting me to give up my rights to complain if they do a shitty job or wrong me in some way.
  21. Thank you--that is how I viewed it too. Is that unusual? Or do contracts often go through that process in an employee hiring process? I figure we negotiate everything else, why not that?
  22. Maybe you don't give a very good one.
  23. Actually, the company that does the search (and with whom I would have signed the contract) is COMSYS, a private company. But it is, indeed, asscovering at its most disgusting. edited for clarity: Comsys is the parent company Sterling is the background search company
  24. I saw that!! It made me want to work in the ER
  25. I already did that. But I'd really like to know more about the legal aspect of this. I looked up contracts and saw that there are three requirements of a legal document, and this document meets all three. But certainly I should never waive my right to a complaint if something is mishandled, no? And even if that doesn't preclude me from actually complaining afterwards, what about beforehand (as I did). Do I have any recourse about not having any say over this contract (if it really is one)? I was already hired on, I just refused bits and pieces of this paperwork? Where is Judge Judy when I need her?
