  1. Whoa, that's one of the more calloused remarks I've seen in a while. Any way, from the few facts presented in that article the "over-reaction" of the shooter seems insanely, crazily, maliciously of line. Who carries a freaking pistol on a hiking trail any way?!? One more reason for me to not go to Arizona.
  2. Looks like a high pressure trend is coming: .SYNOPSIS...A DISTURBANCE EMBEDDED IN THE MOIST...WESTERLY FLOW WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA TODAY WITH CLOUDS...A FEW SHOWERS AND AFTERNOON SUNBREAKS. ANOTHER WEAK DISTURBANCE PASSING TO THE NORTH WILL BRING A CHANCE OF SHOWERS TO PRIMARILY NORTHWEST WASHINGTON TUESDAY. EXPECT A DRYING AND WARMING TREND WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS STRONGLY OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. and I want to head up the North Ridge on Baker. Anyone interested? I'm free Wed through Sat. Ashw_justin might go too.

NetCaptor is a shell that makes IE actually work good.
  4. Back to the original discussion in this thread... Ltown granite is sweet. Me and ASHW_ found good sport routes and cracks even though neither of us had been there before. Camping was hard to find, but only because it was a busy weekend. And it sounds like there is good bouldering too. It was fun.
  5. "moonwalk" got an interesting response.
  6. Spotted... ashw_justin and I were there Sat and Sun. We were in shorts boooyeah!
  7. I am a lot of things and foolish is one of them. Why not do the double-whammy and hit Shasta too. I can probably get us a place to crash in Mount Shasta.
  8. Of course he has more focus and convictions. He's a zealot who sees his actions as part of some modern, I quote him here, "crusade".
  9. Saw it on C-span last night. He made some good points and was really aggressive. Why wasn't he like this 4 years ago?
  10. Well crap! At least I have a place to live now so I don't have to camp in the rain any more.
  11. I've never been to the Coulee. How far is it from the Gorge Amphitheater?
  12. Sweet. Might have some one else to meet us there too. I will probably leave 2morrow late.
  13. So my Baker plans are trashed . Smiffy will be packed I'm sure . What about Vantage ? I've never been and want to check it out. Forecast looks the same there as it does for Smiff. I can drive with room for up to three others. I can leave NOW and don't have to be back until Wed. But 1 or 2 days is cool with me also.
  14. After Hours. It's a Scorsese comedy from '86.
  15. WTF?!? That's not right. I won't be back in WA until late tonight though. i'll send you a PM
  16. I was reading a copy of Accidents in N Am Mtneering from the early 90s and I recall reading of some one who died on a "sport rappel" off of El Cap. The deceased was part of a group of spelunkers. That does not sound like fun to me.
  17. I've ridden and raced many forms of bicycles... road, track, mtn bike. So I've had lot's of experience with road/mtn rash (and orthopedic surgeons). The best way I've found for softening up a scab in the mid to late stages of the healing process is to apply neosporin, or any other anitbiotic ointement, liberally to the scab. After about 20 minutes it will soften the scab enough to allow movement. A dressing of gauze (there are several brands on the market that will not stick to oozing wounds) will prevent your clothes from sticking to the softened scab. Take care.
  18. I'll be around too. I can drive and take up to three besides myself.
  19. Thanks Don, I recieved an email from Petzl regarding the Quark and it pretty much says the same thing. "We are releasing a spare part this fall that will allow you to do just that. It will attach to the end of the quark with nut and bolt but I believe there will be some modification necessary to attach it. I don’t know specifics yet as this has not even arrived yet. As fall gets closer (August) we should have more information for you."
  20. Dru thanx so much. I couldn't figure it out on my own. Next question. Has anyone fabricated an index finger and/or pinky rest for their quarks? BD sells a pinky rest for the viper and I've seen some mods for an index finger rest, but nothing for the quarks.
  21. I was wondering if anyone has any experience modifying their leashed Quarks to leashless or doing the same to a pair of vipers. My google searches have been fruitless so far.
  22. I'm not quite sure why, but that's funny.
  23. chuck taylor allstars... what more can I say?
  24. I'm converting my Quarks to leashless ASAP. That vid is sweeeeet.
  25. Yo! I'm all good. I took off at the lat minute with a buddy to climb the N face of Greybeard. There wasn't enough ice down low for us so we bailed and made great turns on Easy Pass instead.
