Now there's a guy livin the lifestyle to the bleeding edge. Wrecked his car, lost his license, broke his back, lost his eye, and the modified Chevy 350 block for his wheelchair arrives on Thursday.

Damn, do you guys work nights? This place was dead all evening last night, now you're flaming every 20 minutes...
-
That's kinda creepy, that's the exact model and color I've had my eye on for a while now...

Public Enemy and William Shatner

So you can see all of the people who have been hit by motorcycles? Are there a lot of those?
-
I wouldn't equate it to driving drunk, more like running around on foot on a busy freeway. Still impressive when they live, but if they get caught, the police are going to stop them, not just shake their heads in amazement.
-
Damn, that's a hell of a ticket... I'd love to know what he did to that bike. I've never heard of any 1000cc bikes that could top 200. Or, heaven forbid, the police could be talking out of their ass...

"Climbers ain't easy to love and they're harder to hold And they'd rather give you beta then diamonds or gold Gortex and fleece and old faded Carharts each night begins a new day And if you don't understand him and he don't die young He'll probly just climb away"

Official 2nd Annual Smith Tuft Love Fest thread
badvoodoo replied to gapertimmy's topic in Events Forum
It's an award "just for competing". -
Pertinent shmertinent, this breakoff thread was fuckin hilarious! I'm sorry I missed it live. This and the Smiff thread in OR TRs combined have enough testosterone spray to supply a college civil war game.
-
Which of course must mean that the best snowmobiler is the one burning the most gas.
-
I would assume in using graphite spray, or anything oil-based for that matter, you have to be very careful about using it at risk of reducing a cam's effectiveness on the rock. Not to mention stray drips and sprays would have to be -thoroughly- cleaned. Or is this a moot point of you're placing effectively? Having placed active pro all of twice, I'm green on the topic.
-
One should be very careful about the appearance of his helmet. It is something that accompanies his head to the enemy's camp.
-
Grasslands is actually a short drive east of the park. Check this out for info and a map. We'll keep an eye out!
-
Smith's callin to me this weekend, so I'm headed there Friday with Muffy and a friend. Anyone else coming to pull some tuff? I'll be the green Rodeo at the grasslands.
-
I'm with ashw_justin on this one. Seems to me like using a single sling removes the redundancy of your anchor, which I'd put higher on my personal list of priorities than equalization if made to choose.
-
I never made it to Smith, but I made damn sure I got a day in at the Columns in town, cause dammit, a 3 day weekend in Sept. with zero climbing is a crime.
-
I dig. I had to put in OT at work yesterday myself. So very lame.

For christ's sake, I was expanding on a point, not slamming newbies with cash. Hell, I consider myself a yuppie. Not everything is a personal attack people. Get over yourselves. And RuMR: me calling Larry a yuppie? H-U-M-O-R. You having a bad weekend? What's up? I've seen you throw this kinda thing around at will.
-
Sorry Larry, didn't realize you were a yuppie. Can I have your rack when you're done with it?

So true, I almost feel like an extremist here with all these level-headed, bi-partisan folks having equally-represented discussions! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go write a letter to the Eugene Weekly about the people on my lawn protesting this post.
-
That's actually a great example of keeping it non-political. The video doesn't blame it on the "Bush administration" or some "vast right-wing conspiracy". It say the FBI, and possibly higher levels of government, has information it's not showing or not owning up to.

Yuppies: Young, healthy, fit people with enough disposable income and time to explore new sports on a whim, rather doing so out of dedication. Thereby increasing the number of people at the crags who don't take the sport seriously, and pose a danger to themselves and others. Not to say there aren't stupid poor people too, there's just less of them with $1000+ worth of gear. That would indicate to me they'd be more likely to use good judgement in such an activity than someone at the crags who's never so much as taken a belay test. But they still regulate helmet usage on motorcycles. So your point is....

Don't mind me, I'm just going to rant for a second, directed at nobody in particular. I'm so goddamn sick and tired of blind partisanship. Arguing for the sake of arguing, accusing each other of conspiracies, accusing each other of hating America. Well ya know what, if you're ignoring the faults of side A just to slam the faults of side B, you're doing the country more harm than good. Welcome to the Two-headed American Inquisition, where outrage and self-righteousness are required. You can stand for different things. That's really what democracy is about, and what makes it work. But don't ignore the bad things just because they happen to be on your side of the fence. Now lets all go get a and get .
