I have one, and it has been great for me. I don't think you're going to be able to test it in Washington State (i.e. no zero degree temps here). I got mine at a discount, and it comparatively cheep.

Wow, he really is going to try it. I wonder what his climbing resume looks like, and if he has any experience at altitude.
