  1. though probably not related to tiblocs, it appears someone on the leading team died in an accident 1/2 through the big adventure race (subaru primal quest) that was been going on this week here in the northwest. RIP. link
  2. The utterly moronic thing about this being on the ballot is that even if it passes, the "recall the monorail" measure is almost certainly going to be declared illegal and be thrown out later this year. Just putting it on the ballot is going to cost us $850,000.00 (read the Seattle Times today to see why)....and we will get nothing. It is just stupid no matter if you support the monorail or you don't. The "recall the monorail" people and the judges who refused to make a timely decision should be held accountable for this. If they would just wait till after the legal ruling, if it is declared legal, they could put the measure on the next ballot...but instead they are most likely going to throw away our money for absolutely nothing. And if the judges would have made a decision it either could be on the ballot legal...or it wouldn't be on there at all.

  8. Militarily, didn't we already "win" the Iraq war? What is being done there now is a police action against criminals. The number of criminals is probably dependant on the fact that we still there as a "police" force. Problem now is that though we were able to get rid of one bad guy, there are many others waiting in the wings. Everytime we crush one group of criminals, we create a new batch because of collateral damage. Itimidation and might has been right in the the Middle East for ages, and it is easy to predict that this it isn't going to change. Short of killing everyone in the country, we're not going to stop the violence over there. We can't even stop it in our own country.
  9. I've done the route in one day in reverse of what you describe here last year(starting up the Putvin trail, climbing Mt. Stone, down to Scout Lake, over to Upper Lena, Lower Lena, and out.) I found the "traverse" to Scout Lake actually to be mostly a pretty well worn way trail.
  10. This record is under good-faith credible dispute. Questions have now been raised challenging the validity of this ascent. Please refer to this website for more info.
  11. Great work guys. Best wishes to the injured climbers.
  12. Has anyone climbed a multi-pitch wall located just somewhere just past or near the northwest end of Lake Crescent? This would be on the other side of 101 from the "Sore Thumb".
  13. Glad I could help you focus on something, shitbag. Sweet dreams.
  14. From: Dr. Bakare Tunde Astronautics Project Manager National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) Plot 555 Misau Street PMB 437 Garki, Abuja, FCT NIGERIA Dear Sir, REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE-STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL I am Dr. Bakare Tunde, the cousin of Nigerian Astronaut, Air Force Major Abacha Tunde. He was the first African in space when he made a secret flight to the Salyut 6 space station in 1979. He was on a later Soviet spaceflight, Soyuz T-16Z to the secret Soviet military space station Salyut 8T in 1989. He was stranded there in 1990 when the Soviet Union was dissolved. His other Soviet crew members returned to earth on the Soyuz T-16Z, but his place was taken up by return cargo. There have been occasional Progrez supply flights to keep him going since that time. He is in good humor, but wants to come home. In the 14-years since he has been on the station, he has accumulated flight pay and interest amounting to almost $ 15,000,000 American Dollars. This is held in a trust at the Lagos National Savings and Trust Association. If we can obtain access to this money, we can place a down payment with the Russian Space Authorities for a Soyuz return flight to bring him back to Earth. I am told this will cost $ 3,000,000 American Dollars. In order to access this trust fund we need your assistance. Consequently, my colleagues and I are willing to transfer the total amount to your account for subsequent disbursement, since we as civil servants are prohibited by the Code of Conduct Bureau (Civil Service Laws) from opening and/ or operating foreign accounts in our names. Needless to say, the trust reposed on you at this juncture is enormous. In return, we have agreed to offer you 20 percent of the transferred sum, while 10 percent shall be set aside for incidental expenses (internal and external) between the parties in the course of the transaction. You will be mandated to remit the balance 70 percent to other accounts in due course. Kindly expedite action as we are behind schedule to enable us include downpayment in this financial quarter. Please acknowledge the receipt of this message via my direct number 234 (0) 9-234-2220 only. Yours Sincerely, Dr. Bakare Tunde
