  1. Home Depot...."you can do it, we can help". What a trip! And what a summer for the CC.com TR forums! Thank you for the pictures, for the story. That rap anchor... We live right by this stuff...isn't that amazing? Thank you.
  2. Wow! Nice adventure. Thank you!
  3. Didn't climb anything, but went up to Mildred Lakes to fish with my son and his friend, who are both in college...and of course Kiba came too. Actually, I hiked up there Friday night, fished Saturday, and then hiked down Saturday afternoon to meet them at the trailhead, and we hiked up that night and fished Sunday morning and then hiked out. The trail in is steep in parts, I've been going up fisherman paths in the Olympics all summer, but this one is stout in parts. All the hikes up were done in the dark, got up there Friday night at 11:30 pm, and with the boys we got to camp just after midnight. Good times. I saw a bear in a tree Friday night. The vistas on the way in gave me some great memories. The views of peaks in the area: Climbing Pershing with @OlympicMtnBoy   Climbing Bretheron: Climbing Mt Stone with my friend Steve I think I've climbed Mt Stone at least 3-4 times. One of my favorite scrambles in the Olympics. Climbing Cruiser in "winter" with @Alpinfox the latter being a little laughable that we might think we were the first to get up there in winter, but hey, it was fun non-the-less. I never said I was the sharpest tool and if you know Pax you know he ain't either . See the entry about Cruiser here...I just ordered this book, I have never read it! Lots of interesting info there. "The Bremerton Ski Cruisers" being the name source for Mt Cruiser is one tidbit I learned. I wonder how many times the couloir on the north east side of Lincoln has been skied? See it to the right of the main peak here?: Great success. Thanks for allowing me take my little trip down memory lane. It was a great time up there with the boys. Oh and very cool to see Mildred upper and middle lakes from @JonParker climb of Cruiser this past Friday....the first pic I can see our camp and fishing spot right there.
  4. The hits keep coming! Got get it! I'm putting it near the top of the list to add HEIC support to the board, as it seems to make a difference if we get tasty pics or not.
  5. It’s 4.6 miles up to the upper Mildred Lake. It’s a pretty steep trail in parts. That is how pax and I approached when we climbed Cruiser. Never been up to Flap Jack lakes, so that must just be a more pleasant hike in or something?
  6. Was just up on the other side this weekend on a fishing trip.
  7. Nice I will have to check that out! Got a be bike as a way to get into/stay in shape, but also just to explore stuff like this!
  8. Light and they have nice give like steel. Easier on your body than aluminum
  9. Used ti motobecane! But almost new
  10. It is. No power assist you have to pedal!!
  11. Seems like something that could be handled by an insurance requirement rather than a deposit.... The mayor is pulling no punches! "pseudo-mountain-climbers" https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/mont-blanc-rescue-deposit/index.html
  12. So I just got a cyclocross bike. Anyone else do this type of riding? Recommended rides? I'm just putting on pavement miles for now, but the plan is to hit gravel roads and trails and just explore and use it as a tool to keep fit.
  13. Love it! You got the photos figured out! Next time rent a tandem bike 😂😂. there are people on here who are way better for advising you than me, but I'll just say that I think you're on the right track. stay humble and trust your instincts. thank you for taking us along with you.
  14. Damn I love the TRs that roll in this time of year. Another great one! Thank you for the story and pictures!
  15. I love dogs, have you seen my dog?
  16. Way to get your shit together and get it done! In my experience, you never regret going...only not going. For the photos, the site currently doesn't work with Apple HEIC file format. You have to convert them to JPG first. Because I want to see the photos I'm going to do that for you now ;).
  17. Inspiring pictures as usual @JasonG ! What a fine time. Thank you.
  18. Trip: North Mt Petunia - via Goat Lake Trip Date: 07/31/2022 Trip Report: Kiba and I continued our tour of dog friendly parts of the Olympic Mountains this past weekend. Left work and hiked up to Goat Lake in the dark, getting up to the lake at 11:30 PM. There was a cool breeze running down the steep valley into our faces, and with my headlight on low I couldn't see much, but I knew once I reached the alpine as the air turned to sweet manna and stilled my heart which was beating out of my chest. Next morning I fished for a while (well...what I was doing could more accurately be described as "practicing casting in an alpine environment" as my fly casting needs serious work and isn't currently fooling any fish, unless they like getting a pileup of line dropped on to them. I did get one on, and it was off with my fly quickly as I realized I need to tie an actual fisherman's knot. When the wind picked up Kiba and I hiked up the ridge to the north and followed it up to North Petunia, the higher of the two Petunias. The views into the Royal Basiin and Royal Lake, of the Needles, Mt Deceptioin, Mt Fricaba, Petunia, and the views to the east where we spent last weekend (Buckhorn, Marrmot Pass, Boulder Ridge) and further to Warrior and Constance. We headed down to the pass between the two Petunias and thought about going up the other Petunia....but I didn't know what challenges it would present for a dog so I left it for another trip. Went back down to the lake and spent the rest of the day sleeping in the shade and then more casting practice in the evening. The hike out in the daylight revealed that the trail up there is kinda steep. Gear Notes: dog and fishing pole Approach Notes: straight up from the Dungie
